Hello Empowered Achievers!
?
Welcome to this week's edition of Mind Your Success, your trusted companion on the journey to personal growth. This week, we're diving deep into the intricate world of financial wellness, looking at money psychology, self-worth, and holistic success. Let's unlock the secrets to a more empowered you!
?
?? This Week's Power Thought
"Your net worth is not your self-worth, but your self-worth can dramatically impact your net worth."
?
?? Key Concepts
?
1. The Psychology of Spending and Saving
?? Are you a spender or a saver? The answer might surprise you—and it's likely rooted in past experiences. Implicit narratives are that. We cannot pinpoint where they came from, but in stressed situations, they drive our immediate reactions and steer our anxious thoughts. Let's look at the archetypes of finances. What do you connect with? Can you identify others who resemble these archetypes? The game is to be aware without judgment. When we judge others, we are judging ourselves.
? The Void Filler: Using purchases and saving to compensate for emotional emptiness. Ex: Impulse spending and Hoarding our savings when we may actually need something.
? The Status Seeker: Buying and Saving to boost self-esteem and impress others. Ex: Buying an external validator and Setting goals for saving like being the earliest to retire, wanting to be ahead in your saving goals.
? The Comfort Shopper: Spending and Saving to soothe anxiety or depression Ex: "I need this because I feel it will help me to be happy and safe."
??The Rebellion Spender:?Using money as a form of control or defiance, Ex, spending on others as a power dynamic, and saving as a way to seek independence.
? The Scarcity Survivor: Overspending due to past deprivation??Ex: The great depression generation gave implicit thoughts to the boomers on needing to save and not invest. Spending money because now you have connected to status and want to stay in that mindset.
?? Quick Tip: Start a money journal. Note your spending triggers and emotional state during financial decisions. Reflect on these thoughts, are they positive, negative, or neutral?

2. Negotiating Your Worth

Action Step: List five unique values you bring to your work or relationships. Keep this list handy for your next negotiation. These are valid data points to rely on when our cognitive distortions begin to overwhelm us.
?
3. The Emotional Spending Escape
?? Ever found yourself clicking "buy now" to feel better? You're not alone. We're exploring why we sometimes try to fill emotional voids with material things. Let's review the self-worth archetypes that keep us in these patterns of defeat and suffering. What do you connect with? Many find they are an undervalued achiever that has periods of imposter syndrome and people-pleasing behaviors. Do you? Want to make a change? ??
?? Mindfulness Moment: Before your next purchase, pause and ask, "What am I really seeking right now?" "How does this serve me?"
?
4. The Triple Payout: Money, Time, and Spirit
?? Success isn't just about the paycheck. We're examining how to balance immediate gains, future rewards, and spiritual fulfillment in our personal, relational, and professional lives. Our paid subscribers are getting so much value out of this week's discussions. Our value and how we receive value are intertwined through monetary, deferred compensation, and spiritual growth. When we know what our return on investment is, we know more about how we want to interact and how to derive value from our experiences. In toxic environments, our value gets completely lost, and we get stuck in the cycle of suffering and feeling incapable and fearful of getting out of the experience.
??
?? Growth Challenge: Identify one action you can take this week that offers all three payouts.
