I want to talk to you today a little bit about my feminist views, tell you a little bit about why I think that financial services for women is broken and needs to be fixed.
You might know a little bit about my thoughts here, because I do share it a lot on my Instagram.
I have a podcast all about feminism, which you can check out over on my bio on Instagram.
I do have some thoughts that have come from a lot of studies that have been done around this. And so not just from my own personal experience and what my clients tell me and what I've seen first hand in the thousands of interviews that I've observed but also from the studies that have been done.
I'm going to quote one today and talk a little bit about what we can learn from there.
That quote is coming from a study done by Wealthier and their report in 2020.
?in that report, we found out that 72% of women in the UK believe there are biases against women in the financial services industry.
Even if this is only a perception, it does identify a key area of concern that could be addressed and resolved really easily.? that area of concern is women clients feeling listened to and understood.
From their study that was done via interviews and in-depth conversations with clients and women, the key things that they found out were..
Really clear outcomes from their study and it echoes what I found when I'm working with clients.
I'm really passionate about being confident to say that we can be different.
Equality is not sameness.
We can approach financial services in a completely different way for women than we do for men to make it work, to make it focus more on goals and outcomes to make it less about jargon and performance and products, and more about lifestyle, what we need our money to do and how it's gonna work.
And that's how I think it's broken. That's where I think we need to change.
From the Wealthier report, they believe the solution starts with financial education and arming women with the know-how and competence they need to secure and advance their wealth.
And I'm all over that.
I think when you know, and it's positioned in a way that's easy and attractive, you're going to be able to move forward with that.
I hope that was insightful.
I hope it gives you a little bit more understanding about why you might feel that financial services don't speak to you.
It's not you, it's financial services.
