Financial Planning Awareness - One
I recently had the opportunity to host a financial planning stand at a High Tea Party. My main goal was to share some useful information with women and understand how women manage their finances.
I learnt a lot about the general understanding of a financial adviser/planner and so many questions that audience had about financial planning in general so I decided to write a series of posts on Financial Planning Awareness.
Who is a Financial Planner? Is a Financial Planner a Financial Adviser?
Let's check what the regulator of Financial Planning industry define a Financial Planner.
ASIC's website, moneysmart: "A person or authorised representative of an organisation licensed by ASIC to provide advice on some or all of these areas: investing, superannuation, retirement planning, estate planning, risk management, insurance and taxation." From < https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/glossary/f/financial-adviser>
As a Financial Adviser, I am registered in ASIC adviser register, please check https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/investing/financial-advice/financial-advisers-register and A member of The Financial Planning Association - They provide a Find a planner service. From <https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/investing/financial-advice/choosing-a-financial-adviser>
NOW you know how to find a Financial Planner and Financial Adviser is a Financial Planner.
Why do you need to have a financial planner?
There are some turning points in life when you need to receive a professional financial advice such as :
- Getting a job or changing career
- Starting a family
- Saving plan for something big, holiday, wedding…
- Retirement and lifestyle planning
- Buying a house
- Having an investment
- Growing your super
- Protecting your assets
This list can go on and on and on as everyone's lifestyle is different.
You may have avoided getting financial advice because you're not sure how a financial adviser can help you. You may also think you’ll have to pay for a comprehensive and expensive financial plan. Depending on the kind of advice you need, you may not.
