1. The Future of Housing and Real Estate
Some of the most important economic reports that will be released this week are for housing and real estate.
These include monthly reports for New Home Sales and Existing Home Sales.
With low interest rates, home sales and prices have been strong in recent months.
But following Winter Storm Uri, will February housing data be impacted?
It seems likely.
But in the longer run?
Interest rates will be critical for sales and pricing.

2. The Future of the Economy
Housing is a critical part of the economy.
And what happens with housing in coming months will be critical for GDP and financial markets.
But how important is housing for economic growth and wealth?

3. The Future of Data
Companies of all kinds are becoming technology companies — especially in the wake of COVID-19.
Looking ahead, many companies will also become data companies.
What will it mean for jobs?
Jobs of the future will increasingly be tech jobs — and data jobs.

4. The Future of Business
What happens next for business? It is a question I have been trying to answer for months.
The future of many industries and the labor market depend very much on how quickly and broadly vaccinations are rolled out.
Financial market investors are also watching closely.
My best answers to the question of what comes next are in my recent book, After the COVID Vaccine. It was also the basis of my recent talk at SXSW.
5. The Future of Jobs
Jobless Claims data remain critical to watch as a gauge of labor market health.
Last week's report indicated that there are over 18.2 million Americans collecting unemployment benefits.
That number of jobless implies a U.S. unemployment rate around 11.4%.

6. The Future of Manufacturing
Strong manufacturing data are fundamentally supportive for prices of industrial metals and other industrial commodities.
Next week, when March ends and April begins, some of the most important global manufacturing data will be released. These include the Purchasing Manager Indices — or PMIs — for the Eurozone, China, and the United States.
The German Ifo will be released this week and it is a leading indicator of the Eurozone Manufacturing PMI — and Eurozone GDP growth.
