FINANCIAL FREEDOM BLUEPRINT FOR IT PROFESSIONALS

Like many of you, I am no exception and never had confidence on the Internet and social media and its impacts on our lives. Just out of curiosity, I started researching and realized the potential of Internet and Social Media. After listening to so many success stories, one question always kept coming to my mind – “Is it really possible to make money online just by sharing your knowledge and experience?” After struggling with this question for some time, I decided to give it a try and started doing courses, reading blogs, listening to podcasts and watching videos on youtube and TED. After spending approximately two years, I developed a belief that “YES, it’s possible” and reached the conclusion that no matter what, I am going to do it. “I can not afford not to have my presence online”.

Whether it is sales or marketing or simply finding any information, you have to have interaction with the Internet and Social Media. I Started looking at the possibilities of making an income using the Internet and Social Media. I got really excited that if I can really learn to make money online then I can teach the same thing I can teach to others and charge a small fee for that. As my virtual coach, Jim Rohn said that “If you are serious about learning something, never learn for free, and if you are good at something, never teach for free” which initially looks a bit selfish to me. But then I connected it with another phrase which says ” If they don’t pay, the don’t pay attention”. Suddenly it all made sense to me and I felt nothing wrong in charging a small fee to share my knowledge and experience .

But then there was another doubt – what if my personal expertise is not good enough to be monetized. After spending some more time thinking about it, I came up with the following ways we can do the monetization.

• Your own knowledge and experience ( Don’t underestimate you, once you write all your skills on paper, you will surprise yourself. Do it and prove it).
• You can share somebody else’s knowledge and experience just give due credit (like biographies, stories etc).
• You can develop an expertise on any desired topic by utilizing the Internet and Social Media. As they say to teach an audience you just need to know 10 % more than them, rest is all communication and your confidence.

So far I have just mentioned about how to acquire knowledge. But now I’m going to tell you how you can convert this knowledge into a product or service and then sell it? Recently, I was sharing this concept with my fellow friends over lunch time and one of them said, why someone will pay for this information when everything is available for free on the internet. Good question, isn’t it? Yes, I used to think the same, before I came to know about the facts. Out of 3 billion people online today, and growing every minute, a small percentage really value time and they don’t mind paying for that information which is coming from reliable resource rather than go and find on their own. You don’t need millions of people to replace your full-time income. The fact is that in many of the developed countries, the net family income is less than $5000 a month. But today, the Internet and Social Media has provided you the platforms to make that kind of income many ways just by working few hours a week . Initially, you will need to work hard and afterward, it requires very little efforts and those efforts also can be outsourced.

PASSIVE INCOME POTENTIAL

Let me take one typical scenario here. Assuming that after spending around a year or two of part-time efforts you have developed a true fan base of 2000 people which looks initially a bit difficult but, believe me, that is where this Internet and Social Media really plays an important role. Majority of us( of course not all of them!) are using the Internet and social media just for fun and pleasure and in most cases to get rid of boredom. But we never realize the business potential to monetize it. Let’s do virtual monetization in two scenarios which is very much doable and hundreds of them are doing it.

• Scenario # 1 – Let’s say you started a membership site to teach and counsel parents on how to communicate with their teenage kids effectively? After using Internet and Social Media for your marketing and communication, you got 100 parents who are paying you $100 as monthly subscription fee. Let’s do the math. Total monthly membership income from 100 parents is: 100 X 100 = $10,000 ( YES, ten thousand dollars a month, not bad eh!)
• Scenario # 2 – Remember you are doing all this from your laptop and online and not going to knock doors for the customers, so if you manage to get 100 parents out of three billion then you can manage to get 1000 parents also who will agree to pay the monthly membership subscription of $100. Let’s do the math again. Total monthly membership income from 1000 parents is: 1000 X 100 = $100,000 ( YES, no typo here it’s One Hundred Thousand Dollar a Month. Quite good income!)

Do not forget that like any other profession like Lawyers, Doctors, IT professionals, Actors, Media people, with the time you become more experienced and then you can choose your clients as you desired and raise your fees substantially and like family Doctor, you can become a family coach. The potential is unlimited.

RAISE THE BAR OF LEARNING

Gone are those days are gone when you finish your college / university and never needed to open any book again. Today you can afford not to stay current with technology and Social Media. Anyone not busy learning is busy dying. The above passive income scenario is being realized by many, so “if somebody has done it, why not you? And if nobody has done it, then you will be the first one. Even better. We can say that it’s never been a better time as today to achieve anything significant in your life and Internet and Social Media provide you all the tools you need to make your skills really sellable with a high price tag. It all comes down to you that how skilled you are and how rare your expertise are which are in demand. SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

The Internet and social media are the tools to share your expertise and knowledge to build your brand. You yourself can be a brand or your product / service can be a brand. In addition to your email, blog and website, here are the list of some popular social media to use to communicate with your community/tribe to build the fan following.

• Facebook.

• Twitter.
• Linkedin
• Instagram.
• Snapchat.
• Periscope

Recommendation: With immediate effect, if you do not have an account on these popular Social Media, just create your account and start playing around and start interacting with fellow community members. CONTENT CREATION FORMATS

Now you know how to become an expert in your desired field. You also know on what Social Media platforms you need to share your expertise and deliver the values to your tribe. Here is the list of possible modes of content creation.

• Text Format: Like email, blog posts, SMS, text messages, article writing etc.
• Picture Format: You can share you pictures, someone else’s pictures. These pictures can be infographics or just plain pictures.
• Audio Format: It can be recorded on CD, simple mp3 format, podcast, radio etc.
• Video Format: This is the most effective format to deliver your content. It’s never been easier than today to create your videos. In fact, you have complete video studio in your pocket and that is your smartphone, just to start with. Youtube is the most popular Social Media platform to share your videos content and it’s free. Recently live video streaming is getting very popular to connect with your followers, who are soon are going to be your potential customers. Periscope is one of the live streaming platforms getting very popular these days. Just check it out.

So with all the is said above, just start creating the content in all above formats and start sharing it. Do not criticize your own creation let the audience decide and, believe me, the majority of the audience wants you to succeed.

PASSIVE INCOME OPPORTUNITIES

Now you are an expert on something. You know which Social Media platforms to share your content. You know what different formats to create your content. 1.  To become a billionaire, not in terms of the dollar rather in terms of a number of people will be impacted and influenced for betterment since my website’s mission is ” passion for improving people’s life”.
2. To become number one HINGLISH ( In Hindi and English!) motivational speaker in the world.
3. To deliver at least one motivational speech in all the 205 countries around the globe where 29 million NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) live.
4. One Million Dollar Monthly Income, Rakesh ! you went crazy or what? Here is how I’m going to make it. In next 10 years, I’m going to work on myself to become so valuable to the marketplace and more precisely to my fellow tribe or community members globally that I will find 1000 such members who are going to pay me gladly $1000 per month for my product and services. Let’s do the math. Total monthly income from 1000 members @1000/month = 1000 X 1000 = $ 1,000,000 (YES!! No typo here, it’s ONE followed by SIX ZEROS and that is also called ONE MILLION !)

Motivation behind the goals: I really don’t care if I am going to achieve that million dollars monthly income goal or not, but I’m going to prepare myself keeping that goal in mind which will transform my personality to a very different level where I can feel proud of myself and of course the journey will be quite exciting and challenging . Just think about the kind of people I will be associating with in the process and that is exciting to me. I’m not worried about the destination but rather excited about my journey which will be worth reviewing and sharing with you after 10 years.

ACTION PLAN FOR YOU

As a first step here is the action plan for you which you can start right away if you wish to be part of my journey.

• Buy a domain which will cost you around $1 per month.
• Buy a hosting provider which will cost you around $5 per month.
• Start blogging and sharing your expertise and deliver values to your near and dear ones and start building your brand and establish your tribe or community.
• Just list out all the expertise you have and start documenting them and give them a proper structure to share with others.

Many of you might feel overwhelmed as to how to start all of this. DO not feel panic just search on www.google.com or on www.youtube.com for exact problem you have and just play around and start spending, at least, an hour’s time on this new journey.

PS: I might sound bit preachy and at times discuss stuff that is too basic but, believe me, two years back I was just scared to even start and I am trying to educate my past version and if not many, at least a few of you will match with my past version.
