Financial Contentment- Is it possible?

Financial Contentment- Is it possible?

Can one achieve financial contentment?

Is there such a thing as contentment with money? Will one ever have enough of it? Why do we look for more? are we not content with what we have? Late last year I did a podcast episode on how to get clear of your career, passion & purpose. Have a listen to it HERE. One of the questions that spur the conversation was whether being in your comfort zone is bad. Well being in your comfort zone is not bad, because, at different times in your life, you will be comfortable with what you do, how much you earn, your career, etc. The danger comes when you stay in your comfort zone for too long, then it leads to complacency.

Does this analogy of comfort zone and complacency apply to money? We all strive to have a better job and a better life. Have you ever sat next to a Kikuyu businessman and eavesdropped on their long phone calls? Yooh! You will leave there challenged and sometimes you will wonder what exactly are you doing with your life. It's having such people around your circle that will trigger you out of complacency and challenge you to put in the extra effort.

Money and finances are such touchy subjects. But before we proceed why do you want more than you already have? Most people work extra hard because they want to earn more than their agemates, drive better cars than their peers, and ultimately live in better houses than their relatives. They want to be the talk of the town. So then are we not content with what we have because of the level and status we want to hold in society and with our peers? I told you money is a very touchy subject I am sure some yall must be rolling your eyes wondering what side of the bed I woke up on.

The thing about money is Balance! Find that Balance because there is enough money for everyone! Don't let money control the life you live because you can lose yourself in that pursuit. The Holy book says in Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Learn how to grow, manage, build, and spend the money you have.

With this said and done we need to save for emergencies, have a sinking fund, save for retirement, pay black tax the list is endless, so then can one be content with the money they have? Maybe it's just life or it's just human nature we want more!?Let's engage in the comment section do let me know if there is such a thing as financial contentment.

Lastly, let me plug you into an event happening in March hosted by Florence Bett called Make your Money Matter. Florence Bett is the Author of How much? And? Should I? She is also a columnist and Writer for Saturday Nation. ( Just google her she is a big shot!) We will share and discuss with you secrets of how to make and manage your money in a way that matters to you as an individual. I will be a guest host at the event and maybe we can have an open discussion on whether one can attain financial contentment. I hope to see you there. Find a ticket to the event HERE

Until the next one. Have a lovely kickstart to the New month - March! Yes, I know it's early but guess what today 22nd February is Ash Wednesday, meaning Easter is around the corner. Before I leave recordings for the Podcast have resumed new episodes drop in March!

May March be full of blessings!
