Director of FinTech Division at AFSA Yagub Zamanov has spoken at the Pioneering Progress Tbilisi event regulatory panel alongside fellow regulators from Georgia and Uzbekistan. Yagub highlighted recent regulatory developments in the AIFC, including the adoption of the Digital Asset Activities Rulebook, the Security Token Offering as well as the Stablecoins Frameworks. Regulatory cooperation is at the heart of AFSA’s operations and the geography of our collaborations with fellow regulators is increasing. As an example, with our fellow regulators from the National Bank of Georgia and the The National Agency of Perspective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan we have enjoyed a fruitful partnership through our respective Memoranda of Understanding.

In partnership with Dubai Chambers, the Economic Development Board Mauritius hosted the Mauritius-Dubai Investment and Business Forum. C-level executives from a range of industries, including financial services, banking, freeport, real estate, hospitality, ICT, and trading, attended the event on May 14 at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre Hotel. About forty operators from Mauritius were part of a multisectoral delegation that was in Dubai to interact with the business community.

??Today we launched our brand new ‘The Total Tax Contribution of UK-based financial and related professional services’ report, in partnership with the City of London Corporation, and conducted by PwC UK. The report shows that the industry contributed a record ￡110.2bn in taxes – or a contribution of approximately ￡1,643 per individual in the UK that goes towards government services provision – representing 12.3% of all UK tax receipts for the year. This amount is enough to fully fund the UK government’s annual education budget, highlighting the industry’s significant fiscal contribution to the UK economy.
