Nigeria’s Bodun Adebayo, a Senior Strategy Analyst at the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) (a proud member of EnterpriseNGR), achieved a significant milestone last week in Tokyo by securing second place in the WAIFC Young Academic Award 2024. This accomplishment highlights EnterpriseNGR’s commitment to advancing professional development within Nigeria’s Financial and Professional Services (FPS) sector.
The competition, part of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC) Annual General Meeting, received over 50 submissions from 20 countries. Adebodun’s paper, “Financial Centres as Drivers of Talent Development and Re-Skilling in Sustainability and FinTech,” focused on addressing talent shortages in Sustainable Finance and FinTech. His work emphasized the role of Financial Centres in fostering collaboration between sustainability experts and FinTech innovators, showcasing successful talent cultivation initiatives and the importance of reskilling programs.
Spain’s Tammaro Terracciano, Coralie Jaunin, and Luciano Somoza won first place with their paper “Are Green Funds for Real?” while Uganda’s Regean Mugume took third with “Delivering Double Wins: How Africa’s Finance Can Deliver Economic Growth and Renewable Energy Transition.” Winners received prizes of €3,000, €2,000, and €1,000, respectively.
EnterpriseNGR is proud of this achievement and remains committed to promoting Nigeria’s potential in the global FPS sector.

?? From SIBOS 2024 in Beijing to 2025 in Frankfurt As we celebrate the success of SIBOS 2024 in Beijing, it’s a privilege for Frankfurt to follow suit and host this global Tech event next year. Germany and China, two global trading powerhouses, will debut on the world’s foremost gathering on payment and FinTech.
SIBOS 2024 has brought together over 10,000 participants from 150+ countries, featuring 500+ speakers, including numerous CEOs of global financial institutions. Additionally, 50+ leading FinTechs showcased their innovations, driving the future of finance.
This year, we’ve seen a strong presence of German payment service providers in Beijing, and we are eager to welcome an equally robust Chinese delegation in Frankfurt for 2025. Major Chinese banks are firmly established in our city, and payment leaders like Alipay and TencentPay have long been integral to our ecosystem.
In my interview with CGTN, I emphasized the importance of global collaboration, and that SIBOS 2025 will be our chance to strengthen these connections even further.
