Finance Transformation Training
Hello and welcome to my new Newsletter which is dedicated to helping you transform Finance by passing on my knowledge and experience as conveniently for you as possible. My passions in life are Man Utd, the Dubs, Athletics and leading Change Programs. I can safely say I have spent my entire adult life dedicated to all of the above.
I love leading Finance teams and have coached many sports teams along the way as well. As Finance Leaders it will not surprise you that the core challenges in creating top class Finance teams are largely the same. You need effective leadership, a clear vision and a structure to your work. Apply these 3 and you will go along way to improving your teams.
I have always enjoyed leading teams and helping them to improve. Like most people I am happy to help when asked. However, I felt it was finally time to set out my stall, abide by my own 3 principles above and lead the way. To this end two weeks ago I launched Finance Transformation Training based on my experience and my approach to delivering Transformation.
It is my Training, based on what I have done over 25 years, delivered in my way. I cannot be anymore true to myself than to do it this way. Everything I wish to pass on I have put into effect myself and faced the outcomes. This is not theory, this is practical hard won experience.
Over the last 10 years I have made many Conference speeches and a multitude of video and podcasts to demonstrate my experience. I am not offering you Training without proving I know what I am doing. My websites are peppered with examples of thought leadership and at this stage in my career there aren't many situations that I don't have first hand experience of.
I created video, audio and written Content to showcase how all 3 forms can be applied to training online or in person, to crucially reinforce learnings. In essence it harnesses the platforms of social media to deliver Training and also critically key Communications across your Program more effectively.

So by now you know who I am, why I did this and what qualifies me to do it.
I prefer to pass on my Training in how to run a Finance Transformation Program in person, but all the videos will show it can also easily be delivered by Webinar remotely. I appreciate that everyone learns differently and we all have different styles and preferences.

The In House Option: I appreciate that some Finance Leaders don't want to share their particular challenges in a group seminar and instead would prefer their Training delivered at their own premises, exclusively for them and members of their team. So if you are planning a Finance Transformation in 2025 then reach out and I will come visit you at your Office.
Over the last few years how Finance Transformation Programs are resourced has changed, the impact of IR35, the downsizing of many traditional Consulting Firms and the growth of interims, means that Finance Leaders can be forgiven for going 'aaagh which do I choose'. Many feel that they can manage internally and don't require outside support. For some its the cost, for others its that they just don't gel culturally with Consulting teams.

Whatever the reason I recognised this trend and proposed a compromise solution which I call Program Support and you can view it here Program Support. This creates an environment whereby you get on with running your Program with internal resources in the style and manner that best meets your needs.
What I do is offer you the Support necessary for that to work. Program Support focusses on team training, key deliverables and communications. All areas that I have seen first hand, are weak with internally resourced Programs. By all means run it yourself but be smart and listen to the experience that shows you where you would benefit from support.
Finally, I offer the Finance Change Academy. In this instance, rather than manage and resource your Program I create the building blocks internally for you to succeed.
All these options offer you more cost effective means of succeeding on Finance Transformation Programs without compromising on quality and handing over your entire Program to the Consultants.
Ultimately, it offers you, the Finance Leader, vastly more flexibility in how you achieve success.
Finally, I was asked last week would I provide Training in 'Finance for Non Finance Managers' and I was about to say 'not at this point' when it struck me that what makes or breaks the success of a Finance Transformation Program? Business buy in!
In our World we refer to everyone not in Finance as 'the Business' yet without the 'Business' every Finance process would fall flat on its face. If you need me to educate the 'Business' on the impact they have on Finance and vice versa, then just reach out.
In my early days I spent 5 enjoyable years at Whitbread travelling the Breweries and Distribution sites and must have 'taught' Finance to Non Finance Managers at every hands turn, so yes if you need this, lets talk.
