Finance: The Language of Wealth
I’m RJ Mollen, MBA in Finance, working with top businesses on successful growth and expansion. Through strategic financial instruments, we help the world’s wealthiest individuals secure exceptional and stable returns. But here’s a truth that many don’t realize—finance isn’t complicated. It’s just a different way of describing what you already do in everyday business.
Everyday Business, Finance Terms
?? You sell something and make money? → Finance calls it Revenue Recognition.
?? You pay upfront for something you’ll use later? → Finance calls it Prepaid Expenses.
?? You owe money but haven’t paid yet? → Finance calls it Accrued Liabilities.
?? You reinvest profits instead of withdrawing them? → Finance calls it Retained Earnings.
?? Same concept, different language.
The Illusion of Complexity
Why does finance often sound complicated? Because complexity creates dependency. The harder it sounds, the more “advisors” you need. Instead of using simple terms, the industry prefers jargon:
? How much cash does a company actually hold? → They say Free Cash Flow to Firm (FCFF).
? How much debt is manageable? → They say Debt-to-Equity Ratio (D/E).
? How efficiently a company uses resources? → They say Return on Invested Capital (ROIC).
? How much future money is worth today? → They say Net Present Value (NPV).
You Already Manage Finance Every Day
If you’ve ever:
? Saved money instead of spending it all? → That’s Liquidity Management.
? Compared prices before buying? → That’s Cost-Benefit Analysis.
? Chosen between a stable salary or a commission-based job? → That’s Risk-Adjusted Return.
? Put money in a savings account instead of under a mattress? → That’s Capital Preservation.
Finance isn’t about complexity—it’s about strategic decision-making. If you understand the principles, you can leverage them to grow your business and wealth effectively.
