Is It Finally Time For A Happier, Spontaneous And Fulfilling Life?

For most men, life revolves around going to work, heading home, eat and sleep, and repeat. Maybe throw in some TV and getting drinks with friends on the weekends. But is that it? Is that all the fun you get in life?

What if you don’t want a couple of beers in order to have a good time? What if, and stay with me here, you want to find ways to take care of yourself, indulge your deep need for something more, and become a happier person?

So many men are just not happy, and sometimes, this is because they don’t pay attention to their very real human need for self care. When we talk about self care we often connect it to the idea that something is wrong with the person, otherwise why would one need personal care?

Well, the way I see it, personal care is about the following:

????????Setting boundaries to cut things and people who prevent our happiness

????????Finding time and space for rest and to restore energy

????????Finding the things we enjoy doing (which is basically having more fun)

?It sounds simple enough, but how do you receive the idea behind these three points? Does it make sense? Does it seem achievable? Are you already doing it? Is there anything blocking you from doing it?

After years of feeling lost, suffering from depression, and being quite confused about this whole thing we call ‘life,’ I went on a long journey (over 2.5 decades) of self exploration to figure out things for myself. I collected data and developed a series of tools to help me let go of the things that held me back, explore my own abilities, and fulfill my purpose in life.

I know just how dispiriting it can be to feel stuck in a life you aren’t sure about, without knowing how to change. And I also know how important it is to allow ourselves to disconnect from the seriousness of it all and give ourselves permission to have fun. Real fun. Because men deserve fun, and what’s more, we really do need to find what works for us as individuals so that we can relax and be our best selves.

?Not to say that a drink with friends can’t be cathartic. But it could be that other things might just serve your new path better. Things like getting outdoors, getting physical, or being spontaneous and just going to a movie or the beach?in the middle of the day – just because you feel like it.

?Men Are Different And That’s OK

?Men are wired differently to women, this much we know. But that doesn’t mean we don’t share the same need to process our struggles, receive help, find out who we are, talk and share with other men, and have fun.

But without having the right places to do it, we hide our feelings and battle with loneliness and boredom on our own – even when we’re surrounded by lots of people, having conversations, and partying. Our world takes on a pretty relentless and nasty cycle of mundane, repetitive tasks, with often only a rare hint of a more satisfying and enriching life in sight.

Another day, and another day, and another where we feel as if our dreams are moving further and further out of reach. Just forward march and get on with it – that’s the message most men get.

It’s just the wrong message.

Men Have It Under Control (No We Don’t)

Are you telling yourself that you’ve got your problems under control? It makes sense. As a man, and leader in many areas of your life, you’re really up against it. You need to deliver solutions at a high level. You need to make decisions – and they need to be the right ones. You probably have very high expectations of yourself, and your colleagues and family are depending on you.

There’s no need to ask for help, because you’re handling it. With a few temper flare-ups, a couple of beers every night, and other forms of self-medication. Which aren’t helping…

The thing is, the solution isn’t therapy or a personality change. You just need someone you can trust to have a regular, real, no bullshit conversation with. Someone who tells you what you really need to hear and who makes you think better, feel better, and act better.

Problematically, men don’t have a strong environment where we can get the tools we need and talk to a person we can trust to do all this. So we carry on, thinking we’ve got it all under control.

?It’s just that often, we don’t…

?It’s A 1:1 Answer For A 1:1 Problem

?With everything going on between work, home, and family, you probably don’t have enough time and headspace to find real solutions. You certainly don’t need another trek out to therapy to “find yourself.”
