Finally, the New year and Time’s Up!

Finally, the New year and Time’s Up!

Have you been thinking about changing careers, launching your own business, or showing up with more confidence and intention this year?

Well... STOP dreaming and make it happen!

Trust me, I get it—making a big change is both exciting and nerve-wracking. Three years ago, I walked away from a career in TV News. Though I was deeply unhappy, I stayed because I was addicted to a steady paycheck.

If you’ve ever been in that same boat, you’ll know what I mean. But at some point, I couldn’t shop, mani/pedi, or even pray away that nagging feeling that I had stayed too long at the party.

So, I moved forward—and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

If this sounds anything like you, here are six things I’ve learned that helped me on my journey to becoming happy, whole, and authentic:

1. Know What You Want

Too often, we focus on what we don’t want—what we dislike or what makes us unhappy. But when it comes to what we actually want, we draw a blank.

In 2021, I knew I was done chasing news, but I didn’t know what I wanted to do next or how I could transfer my skills.

I spent a year reflecting on happy moments—when I felt most alive and excited about work. I also considered my values and how the next phase of my life could align with what I truly care about.

That clarity helped me identify what kind of work I wanted, how much time I wanted to dedicate to it, who I wanted to work with, and—most importantly—why!

Action Step: Reconnect with who you are. Reflect on your values, passions, and the things that light you up.

2. Make a Plan

Big changes feel less overwhelming when you break them into smaller steps. A plan helps you stay focused and makes progress feel achievable.

Action Step: Use SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) to outline your steps.?

For example, if you’re switching careers, maybe your first step is signing up for a course next month.

3. START—Don’t Wait

There’s no “perfect time” to begin, so don’t delay. Imperfect action is better than no action at all.

Putting things off is often a sign of fear. Take a leap of faith and trust that you can course-correct along the way. Feeling scared is normal, but don’t let it stop you.

The key to success is consistent daily action.?

Action Step: Every day, ask yourself: What can I do today to be one percent better than yesterday?

Growth comes from the struggle. Start now, and trust the process.

4. Protect Your Energy

Your energy and time are your most valuable assets—don’t give them away to people and things that don’t align with your goals.

Remember:

  • Energy flows where attention goes. Be mindful of what—and who—you’re giving your energy to. Energy given to negative people, distractions can’t be gotten back.
  • Every “yes” you say to something that doesn’t grow you is a silent “no” to yourself.

Action Step:?Do an energy audit.?Track where your time and energy are going.

Create an inner circle of friends and supporters who inspire you and keep you accountable. And don’t forget to be that kind of friend to someone else!

5. Celebrate Along the Way

Big changes are a journey, and every small win deserves recognition.

Celebrating milestones keeps you motivated and reminds you of how far you’ve come.

Action Step:?Reward yourself!?It doesn’t have to be fancy. Maybe it’s your favorite meal or a day off to relax.

Big changes aren’t easy, but they’re worth it. With a clear vision, a solid plan, and a little courage, you can turn your dreams into reality.

Remember: Every small step forward is progress.

Your next chapter is waiting. Let’s make it a great one!

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your story or help you take that next step. Let’s grow together! ????
