Marketing Websites For Authors: Build An Email List, Send Email Newsletters, an SELL MORE BOOKS

I wrote this book for all of the authors out there who struggle with?marketing their books. Since 2011, I've sold hundreds of?thousands?of books as a self-published author and I frequently tell people that this game is 1% having a good book and 99% marketing.
I build these exact book marketing websites for clients and I've included every single step with detailed pictures and videos so that any author can make their own.
First off, as an author, you need a website. All of your book marketing efforts won't make much sense if you don't have your own website to send people to.
It doesn't have to be fancy, but it does need to have a few specific features to be effective such as:
-Your own domain name
-Collecting email addresses in exchange for a lead magnet (like a sample chapter of your book)
-Sending email newsletters to your subscribers
But why do you need a website? Can't you just link to Amazon?
You can, but this is one of the BIGGEST MISTAKES that many authors make: posting Amazon links to their books on social media.
I know linking directly?to Amazon seems like this is the right thing to do, but if you want to sell more books, you need to think like a marketer. You want to do what you can to collect customer contact information BEFORE?sending them to Amazon.
Look, Amazon is the BLACK HOLE of marketing. Once you send someone?to Amazon, you really have no idea if they even bought your book. And you certainly don't get any customer contact information like their name or email.
Remember: If a customer buys your book on Amazon, they are Amazon's customer, NOT YOURS.
With your own author website, you can offer an incentive to join your email newsletter (such as a sample chapter) and THEN send your customers to Amazon to buy your book. This is how the most successful authors grow their email lists.
As an author, a contact list of customers will arguably be the most valuable part of your book business. It's something that you own and control. It's a place where you can get feedback, ask for book reviews directly, and announce/launch your next book.
