Here are some of the key features of our height estimation system

  1. Leveraged the MediaPipe library to detect the user's pose landmarks and calculate the distance between specific landmarks to estimate their height.
  2. Used text-to-speech and text overlay to display the height measurement in real-time, providing a seamless user experience.
  3. By using the MediaPipe Pose Landmarker task, we were able to accurately identify key body locations, analyze posture, and categorize movements.
  4. The system outputs body pose landmarks in image coordinates and 3D world coordinates, allowing us to estimate the user's height with high precision.


Personalized Recommendations for Clothing Sizes

We also incorporated the SMPL model to predict accurate clothing sizes based on the user's body measurements, including waist and arm length. This ensures that users receive personalized recommendations and can purchase clothes that fit them perfectly.

  1. Once we get the inputs from the SMPL model, we transfer it to a machine learning model that ensures the best estimate of the user's size based on the measurements it has received from the SMPL model.
  2. Our system is similar to other size advisor solutions like?Fit Finder, which also provides personalized size and fit recommendations using machine learning algorithms. However, our system is unique in that it incorporates the SMPL model, which is specifically designed for predicting body measurements.

Compecc 2023 Participation and Future Developments

Our project was recently presented at Compecc 2023, where we had the opportunity to showcase our innovative ideas and receive feedback from industry experts. Our height estimation system using computer vision techniques and pose landmark detection was particularly well-received, as it has the potential to transform the way people shop for clothes online.
