The Final Transition

As someone who speaks on the topic of transition and change, I've been recently reminded that we will all face a final transition and ultimate change in our lives.
For thousands of years, humans have been talking about one of the only constants in life.........CHANGE.
In the past five months I've experienced tremendous change with the passing of my mother, older brother (unexpected), and a good friend (Earl Cureton).
In addition to my grief, these events have caused me to reflect on this final transition and what we can do to prepare ourselves, as well as the loved ones we may leave behind.
My days as a counselor intuitively shift me into the stages of grief which are (in no particular order):
In addition to the emotional aspect of the final transition, I believe there is a spiritual component, as well.

When I discuss this final transition with others, I mention that we can either believe the Bible is true or it is not. If we believe it is true, we are promised eternal life through our faith in Jesus. If one doesn't believe the Bible is true, I guess I'll leave that between them and the Big Guy.
Regardless, there is no denying we will face a final transition and change, at some point. And like with any change, having a plan and process in place is one of the best things you can do to assist those you leave behind.
This is not a topic I dwell on, but as a result of my desire to plan and prepare, I've created a "Final Transition" letter that I've placed in our safe for my loved ones to open after I pass away. This letter includes a personal note to each member of my immediate family, as well as pertinent financial and practical information that will be beneficial for them.
So as you reflect on your own final transition and change, my hope is you will have a plan and process to not only prepare yourself, but support those you love.
Because, as the Greek philosopher Heraclitus stated thousands of years ago......."The only constant in life is CHANGE."
And our final transition is the ultimate change we will all eventually face.

1 年Loving and thoughtful, Kurt, to leave a personal note to each person to have in your absence. I will follow your idea. I like to think of being "in transition" now, preparation occurring each day, not just the moment we move into something else. As God renews my heart and mind, He readies me daily for something greater on this earth with Him and others until that day when my time here is done and I simply walk through the open door to Heaven.
