The Final Stretch, 10 Days Until the Nationwide Ranking of Countertop Manufacturers and Installers in the U.S.: Will We Launch the New Site on Time?

Hello, dear followers and colleagues! I hope you've been looking forward to this weekly update, so get comfortable and dive into the latest news.

This week was a crucial milestone for the COCO team in developing our project. We focused on a comprehensive site overhaul, from design to content creation and technical fine-tuning. Each team member contributed, from crafting the new visual style and managing social media to developing key content for website sections and optimizing functionality. Our efforts are aimed at making the project as helpful, user-friendly, and visually appealing as possible, and at strengthening our position as a leading countertop company ranking platform.

Accelerating Integration of the New Site Version This week’s work centered around essential tasks for integrating the new site design and functionality. The process came with challenges, especially in bridging the new front end with the existing back-end structure. Key tasks and achievements included:

  • Continued refinement and debugging of the API, forming the foundation for interaction across all site modules.
  • Site rebuild and update in the production environment.
  • Integration of the front end for the listing page, including tasks like filter creation, sorting features, and page adaptation.
  • Quality analysis of contractor performance and beginning the migration of their work onto the site (currently in staging).

Challenges and Solutions: We initially underestimated the volume of back-end work. Many pre-existing modules, such as URL analysis and creation, schema.org, breadcrumbs, and pagination, did not meet the new front-end requirements. Key data, filters, and sorting features essential for the new design were absent in the source code and couldn’t be easily refactored. Since the new front-end logic relies on the API, we had to revise our coding approach to avoid conflicts with other page styles.

Special Measures: Development will proceed at an accelerated pace until November 14, with developers working in two shifts, from early morning until late evening, addressing issues as they arise. Meeting the deadline by the 15th is challenging, but the team is putting in every effort to achieve it.

Design Updates: Steps Towards the Ideal Homepage Over the past week, our team and designer made significant progress! We decided to abandon the first concept for the homepage design, as it felt too technical and didn’t align with our vision of a modern, aesthetic interface. We returned to the drawing board, reviewed references, and one of them fit our expectations perfectly. Dara began redesigning from scratch, and it was immediately clear that this was the right direction.

The new homepage design is now nearly complete, and we plan to hand it over to the frontend developer soon. As a small preview—here is the first screen of our refreshed homepage, and we’re excited to share it with you!

Audience Growth and Social Media Success This week was highly productive for our social media, and we have fantastic stats to share! We started actively posting Reels and regular posts on Instagram, and we’ve been mirroring this content on Pinterest and Facebook. Traffic on Pinterest has risen to 1.3k, and our page looks livelier thanks to videos and stylish posts. The numbers already show promising results, and on Friday, our SMM manager Vikki will have a consultation with an expert to boost our presence on this platform.

In addition, Vikki continues tagging contractors on Instagram. While they haven’t yet confirmed co-authorship, many are resharing our posts in their Stories and viewing our publications, which is key—contractors are becoming more aware of our presence. This week, we released a new trending Reel, and it has already outperformed all previous posts in views. A true success for our SMM team! Analyst’s Meticulous Work: 10+ Cities Verified and Data Prepared for New Articles

Our tireless analyst Ann did an impressive amount of work this week, verifying data from over 10 cities to ensure the prices and quality of information were accurate. She is truly diligent, putting careful thought into each step. Five of the cities were sent back for further work due to insufficient information from some companies, whether missing emails or social media profiles.

But six cities passed verification, and now our copywriter can prepare detailed articles on countertop prices. Ann’s thorough approach helps us maintain high-quality information and assures our users of its reliability. Her attention to detail at every stage is the foundation of an accurate and transparent rating for our users.

Copywriter’s Dedicated Work on a Major Task This week, Alice dove deep into a challenging and extensive project—creating content for the listing page and FAQ section of the new site. This project requires a high level of detail, patience, and careful work, as the text must be not only informative but also clear, engaging, and optimized with key search terms. Our goal is to appear at the top of searches for countertop care, installation, and maintenance. But of course, when it’s time for you to get a new countertop, you’ll know exactly where to find the best contractors, right?

Despite the large scale of this project, Alice managed to complete four more articles on countertop prices in various cities, which is a great addition to the main project. These materials will soon be available in our blog, and we’ll actively share them on social media. In the meantime, check out our already published articles on cities like Mesa, Austin, Raleigh, Aurora.

Conclusion This past week was a significant step forward for our team. We revamped the homepage design, expanded social media reach, added important content, and strengthened the technical foundation of the site. Every team member has contributed greatly, working towards our common goal—creating a reliable, user-friendly, and informative resource for our clients. There are many tasks ahead, but with this momentum and teamwork, we’re confident we’ll cross the finish line in style.

I look forward to your comments—they inspire us and lift team spirit! Max Kuchma, Founder and CEO, Countertops Contractors
