Final element of the Growth component: Business interests

Business interests/ownership is the final element of the G (Growth) in our P,S,&G personal financial model. For many business owners their business is their financial life. It is the engine that makes everything else go. For others their business interests are a side hustle or serve as another investment in their investment portfolio. Depending on the situation and economic circumstances investing in or expanding an existing business may be the most attractive investment opportunity at the given time. Many people say “invest in what you know” and many are more comfortable putting their money in assets they are have the most familiarity. When most people think of investment they think more traditional stock & bond type assets, but things change. Who knows what the future will bring. So for many people non-traditional investments may be their preference. I know of people who have bought into a medical, dental, real estate, or other business and that entity generated an annual income of more than the initial/one time buy in. There was no traditional investment that could have generated that type of return. Many prefer to do both – used business profits to invest in traditional account or vice versa. Everyone has their own preference. If you have any questions regarding coordinating business interests with the rest of your financial lives please feel free to reach out.
Take care,
Bob
