Writing this final post has been the most difficult part of this series. Why? Every time I look at my information sheet, I find something else to simplify.
Yes, I may have obsessive-compulsive-perfectionist tendencies in some aspects of my life.
This handout is not quite ideal; it still depends more on words than I would like, but the bullet points contained information that could not be clearly illustrated. The initial handout was nothing but text, so at least this one has an image and white space.
Remember, these handouts are to supplement conversations with patients and families, not to replace them! The doctor should still explain things in more detail as they go through the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Think of this as the notes page we often got from lecturers that we could scribble on during their presentations.
So that's an example of how to take a text-based patient handout to one that is more infographic. Do you have any materials you can start converting?
