Final Choices for the Class of 2021

Final Choices for the Class of 2021

Even though waitlists are still moving and the dust hasn't settled, my students have made their final decisions, and what a ride it's been! I have to say that this year, my students were extraordinary in retaining their optimism, positivity, and enthusiasm even in the trying circumstances of a pandemic and record-low acceptance rates at the top 50 or so colleges.

The diversity of colleges to which my students were admitted this year is even greater than in year's past and included some really cool places and programs such as NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Studies, the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland, and several outstanding women's colleges, Scripps and Smith.

Below are two lists; the first is a list of all the colleges to which my students were admitted. The number in parentheses is the number of students admitted to that particular college. The second list is the final choice of my students along with the area of study each is planning to pursue. Note: 80% of students change their majors in colleges, so it's always interesting to see which major students actually end up in down the line.

I was truly inspired by each student I worked with. I cannot thank them enough for allowing me to come alongside them in the college search and application process. I learned so much from them this year, an incredibly challenging year, and I know their parents, friends, family, and I are very proud of their hard work and perseverance. Well done, High School Class of 2021!
