The penalty that meant that he had a free shot at goal with only Scotty to beat.
The crowd went quiet as a Rumpletown striker placed the ball on the penalty spot.
He then turned around, took a long run up and waited for the referee.
The crowd went deathly quiet as the referee blew his whistle.
The Rumpletown player ran up and with an almighty thump, kicked the ball high up to Scottie’s right.
Scottie launched himself at the ball and with a huge stretch, just manage to knock the ball with his paw onto the post - what a save!
However, before you could blink the Rumpletown player had followed up as the ball bounced back towards him off the post.?He smashed the ball straight back once again towards the goal.
As if in slow motion, Scotty saw the ball flying to his left, and started to dive to try and stop the ball.
As he did so he thought of Hoots Hock Jock McBlock and those bright yellow shorts. He flung himself as far to his left as he could and at full stretch he caught the ball smack between his paws.
The referee blew his whistle for the end of the game.
Scotty had saved the day! The crowd cheered with delight and the players jumped with joy and run up to congratulate him.
“How are earth how do you manage to make such a fantastic save?” they asked. ?
Scotty looked up, thought for a minute, and replied, “well I guess it must have something to do with those yellow shorts!”.
“But you aren’t wearing them!” His teammates shouted!
“Exactly,” replied Scotty, “after all, you didn’t really believe they were magic did you?”
Everyone laughed but as the players walked off the pitch to celebrate their victory, Scotty had a strange feeling.
He looked over the fence towards the local park.
Sure enough there was someone there kicking a ball around.
“I wonder who that is,” thought Scotty, “he looks familiar.” But before he could get a better look and see who it was, the crowd and players swept him into the changing rooms.?
