Filtering the Noise.

Filtering the Noise.

Have you ever felt like walking away from all the noise? It seems there is more and more information to consume every day. Every time I want to put aside my phone for a moment, another notification comes in. WhatsApp. Telegram. Instagram. Facebook. Twitter. Snapchat. Email. They keep dropping all through the day.?

That same noise is prevalent when it comes to personal finance and investing. Just like there are different football clubs in the game of football, there are also different camps when it comes to investing. Camp A believes stocks are a waste of time. Camp B believes cryptocurrencies are a bubble (some are, to be honest). And Camp C? These ones support any investment other than Camps A and B. It is best not to develop an emotional attachment to any investment (no matter how much it earns you).?

How does one filter the noise in order to get the essence? The first step is to go beyond the headlines. An headline could read "JPMorgan stock drops 6%." Bad news, right? Should one sell? Or forgo buying? While the headline is negative, some of the factors are one-time occurrences. Most times, headlines won't tell you that.?

The next step is to start with the simplest sources of information. Oftentimes, these may be the least noise. Pick platforms that break down complex concepts into simple and easy-to-understand forms. There are simple newsletters, podcasts and YouTube channels that do this. Embrace simplicity!

If you are looking for simplicity, you do not need to look too far when MoneyAfrica is just a DM away. MoneyAfrica is a financial Ed-tech platform here to breakdown all the complex financial concepts into simpler forms. Join our community today to learn more about your finances.

We are also currently having a sale where you get a personal finance journal and you also learn all about the Global and Local Stock Market, Cryptocurrency, NFT, Real Estate, Mutual Funds, and ETFs all through the year for a ONE OFF fee of only N25,000.

Lastly, don't act on impulse. Do not make an investment decision that you do not fully understand. It may appear you are missing out (and you will miss out) on a few opportunities.? That is fine. As you climb the ladder of financial literacy, you will spot your own opportunities.??

Do you have any questions? You can send an e-mail to [email protected] or send a DM to any of our social media channels.?
