What is Y Type Strainer?

Y type strainers are named by its shape and use for course filtration. It is designed for remove unwanted particles from the pipe lines and provides protection for pumps, valves, regulators and other similar equipments.

You will find y-strainers in many steam applications, for which they are considered a standard component. The part’s shape and construction make it ideal for handling high pressures put out by steam. It is not uncommon for Y-type strainers to be able to handle pressures of up to 400 bar g.
