We all have been using transformations which we know they are critical part of data preparation and wrangling. Transformations help us to transform the data into different shapes, we can do Pivot, Unpivot, changing column names, Data Function, Normalization etc. If you have noticed that while working on excel sources, flat files or OData connections, we have to load all data irrespective of what data we need i.e we can't apply filters on these sources. This limitation is up to version 10.0.
While if you are using version 10.1 and above, you would be welcomed with a new transformation "Filter Rows" which will allow you to filter data at the time of loading itself or after loading data in Spotfire Analyst.
I would say that this functionality have made my .DXP files bit lighter because earlier I didn't have any option to remove data while loading data but now I can apply "Filter Rows" transformation and can limit data anytime.
I hope this article would be useful for those people who are working on lower end version and planning to upgrade their Spotfire. Happy Learning!
