Filmmaker Ty Hodges tackles tough subjects in A Girl Like Grace.

A GIRL LIKE GRACE is the story of a 17-year-old female growing up in a small, Southern community where notions of femininity, sexual identity, and survival are starkly at odds. 

As Writer, Director and Actor, Ty Hodges explains, "A GIRL LIKE GRACE was my effort to expose a story about our current generation and the trials and tribulations of finding yourself in a world where identity is limited to labels, but where the true journey is to arrive at a place of self-acceptance and self-love, regardless of the situation.”

An outcast at school, she's taunted by the ringleader of a mean-girls clique, Mary (Raven-Symone) while mourning the recent loss of best friend Andrea (Paige Hurd) to suicide. Courtesy of the distributors and filmmaker, this breakthrough film was screened to high schools, teen organizations and colleges to over 25,000 students nationwide during the month of November. A discussion guide accompanied the film to assist teachers, mentors and organizers in discussions on the effects of bullying, suicide, and sexual identity that confront many of today's teens.
