Last week Tesla began delivering the first Model 3's in the next phase of the master plan. The team and I at Tesla spent a good portion of time leading up to the event creating Model 3 content and assets, many of which went in the live presentation, website and to the press.
I opted to shoot the driving footage with a Flowcine Black Arm as the goal was to get a variety of short shots for the initial footage. We custom built a speed-rail mount at Little Giant SF for our Model X, did a test shoot for calibration and mounted up an Alexa Mini to a MOVI Pro and hit the roads!
As a quick control solution for the MOVI I went with the PS4 controller via the MIMIC and it was an amazing feeling using something so familiar to me. It was a bit like DriveClub but better ;)
For drone footage, we threw up the DJI Inspire 2 and actually shot a lot with a 45mm lens. That lens is the closest you can ever get to the look of a helicopter. Big thanks to Aaron Mendez for turning me onto that lens!
Here's a peek into what we put out for press and keep an eye out for more :)

7 年I love the custom rig you built. What keeps the image steady? That chassis is really shaking hard.
