Fighting Period Poverty in Poland – a What We Value Project
RockCorps is proud to support Telekom’s platform, “What We Value” in recruiting Gen Z volunteer leaders from across Europe. We met so many inspiring visionaries, here is one of their stories:
According to a study by P&G, 1 in 10 students missed school due to lack of access to hygiene products.?
Emilia?Kaczmarek and Magdalenda Demczak?co-founded the first foundation to fight period poverty and menstrual exclusion in Poland, in a country where sex education is relatively limited. Emilia is in Forbes’s 25 under 25 for Poland, in recognition of her efforts tackling period poverty.?
Akcja Menstruacja has a number of interventions. They connect people anonymously to do “padsharing”, with someone providing products to a person in period poverty. They set up free product lockers in bathrooms and schools around the country. These are supported by a network of over 100 volunteers across the country, and a team of 17 people.
