Fighting Digital Pollution...

Year : 1987, Location : India, TV Channel Name : Doordarshan, Program Name : World Of Sports

This was a very popular program which used to be telecasted from 4:30 - 5:00 PM every Sunday in India where they used to give an update on all the sports around the world in 30 mins (Believe me it was a great and useful update). At the end was my favorite part where in last 5 mins they used to give soccer update and English Premier league used to get 2 minutes slot in it. In which they used to show about the table and results of the last week matches. We used to wait for the whole week for this program and since we did not have the TV at our home used to go to neighbors home to watch this program. Sometimes when neighbor had to go out we used to miss it hoping to catch up next week.

Year : 2018, Location : any where in the world

Browse to www.footyroom.com and as soon as any soccer match happens anywhere in the world within 60 seconds the highlights are available. This site is full of up-to-date information of the soccer world.

So we can easily see here the technology has made a great stride in bridging the time and distance gap. The world has shrinked into few clicks. Technology has uplifted the average human information access.

But this is only one side of coin and in this whole glamour of technology we often miss and ignore the other important side. This is the human aspect of it. Go to any train/bus across the world these days you will rarely find people speaking to each other and invariably every one would be stuck to their mobile/tablets/laptops trying to reach their favorite song or important update etc. In whatsapp groups on an average 95% of material is crap. I think this is against the universe which GOD has created in which he has put human being as a social animal. This aspect provided the superiority to human being over other creatures. I feel we are loosing this essence of human being due to blind and over use of technology.

I strongly feel that any thing which no matter how great it is, would be harmful if used in access without control. I think that is exactly what is happening in current scenario, where the whole world is in the grip of digital pollution. This pollution is far more dangerous as its effects are not immediately visible and it impacts very slowly and psychologically.

Try these simple tips it really helps, say hello to a stranger (office, work, mall, airport etc) once in week. Offer a helping hand without being asked if you see any one struggling in a public place, to have a magical effect offer it voluntarily. If someone offers help acknowledge and appreciate even if you do not take the help. Talk to neighbor about his health, family etc. In India to have good control on ones body and mind there is a culture of fast where it is believed if any one fasts (gives up his food for a day) there would be positive impact on his health. Similarly we can practice digital fast where we can practice to be away from our mobile(twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc etc) for at-least few hours in day per week to reduce our anxiety and enjoy with better quality precious moments with our loved ones.

I sincerely hope this digital pollution does not become severe as noise/air pollution...
