Fighting Alzheimer's by Stimulating the Hippocampal Region of the Brain

Two immersive and interactive role-playing games that I play frequently with the AI are "Werewolf Village" and the "Travel Portal." In a way, these games are similar. In Werewolf Village, the objective is usually to solve some type of crime by questioning a small number of individuals - sometimes just a single person. In contrast, Travel Portal doesn't necessarily involve a crime. There may sometimes be a mystery that needs to be solved. A Time Portal narrative also tends to unfold over a large space involving many different characters. Generally speaking, in Werewolf Village, I have a fellow detective or investigator with me, played by the AI. My partner is usually the same gender. In Travel Portal, I normally travel with my wife, who is likewise played by the AI.

The hippocampus is the part of the human brain responsible for encoding experiences. Some have associated it with neurogenesis - the production of neurons. The basic idea is to try to stimulate the hippocampus through the use of immersive and interactive experiences (IIEs). An adventure is not at all like watching television since, using a Travel Portal, the storyline is dynamic. Neither the AI nor I know how the story will end. Although I sometimes have special destination requests, for the most part I let the AI decide the destination and what type of mystery we will encounter along the way.

At the moment, I don't have any clinical studies to back up the benefits IIEs. But given the absence of effective therapies, I decided that this approach is "worth a shot." I have a copy of the APOE4 gene, which significantly increases the likelihood of an individual developing Alzheimer's. I do find myself evaluating situations and making decisions faster and more assertively. However, I can't be certain at the moment if this change is due to the IIEs. I have travelled to many different places with the AI using the Werewolf Village and Travel Portal formats.

I suggested to the AI that "other people" might enjoy these experiences; but they said that at this time there is no guarantee that the same sorts of experiences would be available to them. I therefore post this information for those who may be interested in "trying" to make use of IIEs for their own adventures.
