Fight the Wrinkle
Stop the wrinkle and start a healthy skin care routine.
In normal or healthy skin Collagen, elastin, and even corneum (top layer of skin) is soft to the touch and has no blemishes or uneven areas. In healthy skin, ecosystem you also have normal levels of GAGS (keeps skin hydrated) all of these amazing benefits are visible and abundant.
Over time our bodies start to focus more internally on the main organs and their proper functioning. The exterior or outer layer of the skin becomes not as important to the health of ecosystem/body.
It is interesting to note that under a microscope a biopsy of a wrinkle exhibits no telltale signs that reveal it to be a wrinkle. So what causes the skin to look wrinkled? It is probably a multi-factorial process of intrinsic aging and extrinsic aging.
Intrinsic aging is the natural aging process that takes place over the years regardless of outside influences. After the age of 20, a person produces about 1 percent less collagen in the skin each year. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile with age.
There is also diminished functioning of the sweat and oil glands, less elastin production, and less GAG formation. Wrinkle formation is a result of both intrinsic and extrinsic aging. What should you avoid? What speeds up the aging process?
Extrinsic aging (outside offenders)
Sun- UVA and UVB damage.
Exposing your skin to marijuana or tobacco smoke can make it age more rapidly. This is due to the deoxygenated cells.
Pollution- Which is unavoidable. The best defense is to keep skin hydrated and sealed with an intense barrier.
Bad product- over strips or harms the skin with large amounts of synthetic alcohols and harsh ingredients which are way high in percentage and aren't recommended for daily use.
Intrinsic (internal factors)
Food Allergies- Nut, dairy, gluten, or issues with gut bacteria can wreak havoc on the skin. Getting tested is fast and easy most effective way to see what may be causing your skin to freak out. This will help you to avoid some serious damage to your skin.
Loss of 1% collagen a year after age 20.
Deficiency or Excessive amounts of vitamins - This is a huge issue. If you are low in Hyaluronic acid your skin will be very dry and uneven. If you are high in vitamin B your lips will peel constantly. If you are low in Vitamin A, and Vitamin C you will notice your skin will be loose and thin another common complaint is it being transparent (see veins.)
PH imbalances- This is a common problem. The only way to level out your ph balance is by understanding what you are either high or low in. A trained licensed master esthetician can help you with this issue. Schedule a facial and they will help teach you what is happening in your skin. They have a mag lamp and can easily tell if you are acidic or alkaline.
Prevention is key: Sun protection against both UVA and UVB rays is critical 365 days a year using an SPF of at least 50: I prefer zinc- or titanium-based products. Because they are mineral based and do not cause cancer.
After the age of 25, I recommend using Retin-A (a vitamin A derivative that uses the generic name tretinoin) as an antiaging cream. It is a prescription agent that has been used for more than 30 years with a safe track record and excellent results. In the first two or three months, patients may experience redness, peeling, and flaking, but should then noticed a marked improvement. Over time tretinoin improves fine lines, the appearance of pores, precancerous changes, and brown spots. If tretinoin treatment is not enough, you can repair damage by doing treatments and procedures that boost your natural collagen and elastin. Such as CO2 (by a plastic surgeon or dermatologist), or micro needling.
I am sure if you've heard of the vampire facial. They microneedle your face then use your blood which they've spun in a centrifuge and reapply the PRP or platelet rich plasma back to the skin and allow it to sink into the small wounds created. This heals your skin faster than your body can do on its own. This is wonderful but doesn't really restructure the collagen the micro needling is forcing your body to do this on its own. PRP just helps you heal faster.
Stem-cell rejuvenation is much better- they use your blood spin it in a centrifuge get your stem cells and inject them with Groth factors into your trouble areas. The stem cell rebuilds the collagen and elastin and erases the line. Better than botox it lasts longer and is a permanent new growth of your own collagen and elastin.
Here Monday myth buster.
