Fight for this world

I truly feel sorry for what is going on worldwide due to the coronavirus. You know though what's more frustrating? That we will go back to our normal routines, without learning a single damned thing. Either we will block effectively it's spread and reduce it's victims and vectors over the next incoming waves, or we will forcefully adapt to it, but we will make it through. However, my greatest fear is what will happen after that. They might not be considered as pandemics, but there are so many causes of death around us. They never stop. They just happen. I am not going to speak with numbers, cause it is irrelevant. People die from cancer, cardiovascular diseases and we try to beat them, but we can't make them go away completely. People die from hunger or slavery. Children lose their right to education or they are forced to survive by labouring. Wars still go on. Clean water sources get contaminated. Accidents on the road occur every day. All these 'pandemics' victimise immense numbers of people around us. Nonetheless, most of the times all of these are away from us. We don't see them. We don't react to them. We don't want to involve ourselves. That's the problem with any virus that threatens human existence, even if this sounds extreme. Everyone is susceptible to it. What i mean by that is that it seems sad when you watch victims in Syria dying due to a war for example, but it is a fleeting thought. We will put ourselves back in our routine. That's what's going to happen after the virus is gone. I wish that i am proven wrong, but forgive me if i have lost my trust in humanity. I feel this is a time to truly reflect on all these things. We need to open our minds and ourselves to this world and imagine everything that could happen around us, even if it doesn't affect us. Let's fight this virus and let's continue with the same passion to eliminate everything else as well. Let's not forget those around us, no matter what they suffer from.

You cannot change the world in silence or individually. It takes collective effort but this is not happening. It is still a "Me" generation. Something like that would need strong leadership, authenticity and caring for the public good. Do you see anything like that around?
