This is MY Quest!
Just some of my thoughts this morning. A bit disjointed, but hey, it’s Saturday!
Most who know me know that I am all about love and joy and kindness and patience and understanding. However, a few of you know that I am also a warrior. I am not afraid to stand up for what is right, to stand up for freedom, to stand against hatred and violence, to rail against ignorance. I am also not one to follow the status quo, to agree with what “everyone else” is doing.
I am a rebel. I believe in honesty and integrity in all things, business, personal relationships, with myself. Yet I also believe in tactfulness. I don’t have to tell you that I dislike your dress. What purpose would that serve?
I don’t believe in taking something that does not belong to me, standing in anyone’s way to impede their progress, or in hating people just because they don’t happen to agree with me. There are a lot of people out there who preach togetherness and love, unless you disagree with them. Then they hate just like everyone else. This saddens me, and makes me resolve to stand up and fight.
The unbeatable foe, many times, is one we cannot see. It is a thought process, or a lie, or something so giant and unfathomable we cannot even describe it. We only know it is dark and looming and has the ability to destroy.
Freedom comes with responsibility. Freedom comes with caveats. We are free to do what we please as long as that freedom does NOT infringe on others' freedom, life or property.
So, love whom you want to love, hate whom you want to hate, that is your right. Notwithstanding, you have no right to harm, to infringe, to destroy OPP.
We need to remember that nothing good can ever come from anger, hatred or darkness.
One of my very favorite quotes came from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr..
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Does this mean that we should tolerate evil? No. We shall stand against evil. So let's be clear on what evil is. It is anything that tries to take away your individual freedom to choose. Remember though, freedom’s caveat... And remember, that doesn't mean your choices won't have consequences.
