The world has been facing difficulties in tackling many issues related to COVID-19, stoical distancing is one of the term that has been created and had inherent some concerns. Stress is one of the outcome of this pandemic, which directly affect our immune systems, there are many ways can help us to do that
1. Fighting fear
Fear can give us negative thoughts, which contribute to harmful stress. Allowing stress releases hormones can get us ready for emergencies, but also fighting back the fear is right by reacting only on facts, not misinformation. You can tackle fear by facing it head-on with facts and smart precautions like hand washing, disinfecting surfaces and social distancing; also, you should get your information only from the reliable sources
2. Get Reliable Sources of Information
Social media can cause anxiety as misinformation spread on like wild fire. Social media should be controlled as it can raise negative emotion and cause panic; it is therefore we should limit our children’s exposure to television news...
3. Physical Exercise
Exercise our body helps us keep our mind positive, it is important for body. All type of exercise are good to uplift our moods and keep us tuned body and mind.
4. Help Each Other
Social distancing does not mean you should not seek and give support. The upside to social media is that we truly are more connected than ever before. Find out who needs help and offer it, in a way that keeps everyone safe and cared for. Even with social distancing, you can drop off medicine or supplies to a neighbor or friend. Call your church or check in with your online groups to find out who needs a meal that can be left on their doorstep, or a prescription delivered. In addition, of course, if you bought many “bulk extras,” maybe spare a few food or household items for those who were not able to stock up. Be creative to ensure our social distancing does not lead to emotional distancing for those most in need
5. Limit Poor Nutritional Habits that Weaken Your Immune System
One habit to curb is eating or drinking more than 100 grams (8 tbsp) of sugar a day . That much sugar reduces your white blood cells’ ability to kill germs by 40%! Also limit your alcohol intake as studies show that three or more alcoholic drinks daily is enough to suppress your immunity. If anxiety or stress interfere with your ability to function or care for yourself or your family, seek professional help
6. Fasting puts body into “energy conservation mode”
Dr Khan in his article published in Aljazeera revealed that recent studies have shown that fasting can actually have beneficial effects on the immune system by reducing the amount of general inflammation that can occur in cells around the body. Due to the lack of nutrients coming in, fasting is thought to put the body into an “energy conservation mode”, he asserted. Further explaining the process he informed that in an effort to save energy, the body recycles many of its old or damaged immune cells, which later promotes the generation of new, healthier immune cells when the fasting period ends. These new cells are quicker and more efficient at fighting infections so overall immunity improves
Fasting boosts immune systems
Discussing the health implications of observing Ramadan under lock down and during a viral pandemic, Dr Amir Khan, an NHS doctor and a senior university lecturer in the United Kingdom, dispelled the fears that fasting can affect a person’s chances of contracting the corona virus. On the contrary, he observed that fasting is believed to be beneficial to the body in a number of ways, including through the effect it has on boosting our immune systems
