Five organisations within the live music and hospitality industry have demanded swift action to prevent venue closures and a “catastrophe to UK culture”…
Rocketing energy prices are forecast to become “a matter of existential emergency”, with venues facing (potentially) an extra £90m per year in costs. As a result, music fans will pay even higher ticket prices or venues will shut completely.
The Music Venue Trust — along with The Night Time Association (NTIA), UK Hospitality, The British Institute of Innkeeping, and The British Beer and Pub Association — has signed an open letter to the government, outlining the need for a support package for the sector.
“Without action from the government, we are now modelling that this will close more venues than the pandemic,” says Mark Davyd, the founder of the Music Venue Trust. “We don’t see any other outcome”.
This, of course, also has a detrimental effect on the individuals who work within the hospitality and live music industry, with many jobs in the sector “at grave risk”.
With yet another disaster on the horizon for venues, protecting and improving revenue streams is paramount. Ticketpass has a model that is ready to work with you and your venue to ensure stability. Get in touch now.
