I am super excited about the general election, and I’ll be obsessively following the campaign over the next six weeks. I am still incredulous that the PM could meet Figen Murray hours before he announced the 4 July election date and promise her that Martyn’s Law would go through. Read about her remarkable journey to Number 10 below.
With the end of this Parliament, the Home Affairs Committee sped up the conclusions of its inquiry into fire culture. It found the fire and rescue service to be ‘institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic.’ Hard hitting and brutal words that will leave the service reeling once more.
And finally, we have a date for the second report from the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. 4 September is going to be a big day in the fire world.
