In January 2017

12 women were killed by men.

4 of those women were killed after their 50th birthday.

3 of those women were killed by men they were personally connected to.

Nicola Beck 52,

Nicola and her husband were found dead in their home in Devon. Nicola was an acupuncturist and they were described by the media as a 'wealthy middle class couple'.

A coroner ruled that Nicola was killed by her husband, before he ended his life by suicide. He wrote letter confessing what he was planning to do to his family and evidence at the home confirmed this.

Nicola had recently asked for a divorce, with much of the media coverage using sympathetic language towards her killer.

We don't know Nicola's story.

Anne Forneaux 70,

Anne was found dead at her home in Weston-Super-Mare, she had a stab wound and head injuries, a hammer and knife were found in the home. Her husband was later found dead in his car after driving into a tree.

The coroner ruled Anne was unlawfully killed, but could not conclude whether he intended to take his life.

We do not know Anne's story.

Anita Downey 51,

Anita died in her fiancé's home. He had cut her throat.

The court heard that Anita who had three children with her ex-husband, was the "lynchpin" of her family, with her father speaking of "a huge void that will never been filled".

The killer (her fiancé) had an extensive criminal record for offences including wounding and possessing knives. He was found guilty of Anita's murder and sentenced to a minimum of 18 years in prison.

We don't know Anita's story.

*Information has been taken from a variety of trusted media reports, DHR (when published) and the Counting Dead Women website

I intentionally do not use the killers name

These are the women who have been killed that we know about. I am 100% sure that the number is much higher! ??

Awful stories aren’t they. Wonderful women with their lives snuffed out by over-entitled men. And you are so right that we just don’t hear about their lives and their side of the story. xxx
