The Fifth Birthday Edition!
The SiGNAL team raise a glass to their 5th birthday

The Fifth Birthday Edition!

Last month was our 5th birthday and we celebrated with a little party.

To get everyone in the mood to celebrate on a Friday morning we organised a game of pass-the-parcel, shots of energy drinks and some random dancing topped off at the end with cake and bubbly.

We didn't forget to inform as well as entertain and our thanks go to our main speaker on the day Sebastian Elwell FPFS TEP for his in depth look at the all important topic of Climate Confidence

Long term SiGNAL resident Rob Fryer sums the morning up nicely in his follow up post on Linked In:

Business shouldn't be boring!

Do you find time for fun in your business? It is so important to seek it out on a weekly basis.

It is also important to surround yourself with fun people too that lift you up.

I was at?SiGNAL Bordon's monthly networking and business event this morning and they were celebrating 5 years in business. I have been part of their business community for most of this time - BrandStorm was one of SiGNAL's first office tenants and still have an office there today

SiGNAL has a strong ethos built around 'No-one should build a business alone'

but also believes strongly that you should enjoy the journey and that business events should not just be white collars and death by PowerPoint.

Therefore, as part of the celebration this morning, in true Signal style, they armed everyone with a glow stick and had a 5-minute morning rave. Well, why not.

Happy Birthday Signal!!”

Thanks for that Rob ??

If you couldn't make it to the party and you would like to get a flavour of the morning (and/or laugh at our dance moves) just click on Gareth's video below:

If you'd like to join us for more networking fun and games plus business and regeneration insights, this month's big networking event is on May 26th. All our events run at The BOSC Bordon on Friday mornings between 9.30 and 11.00 am

SIGNAL Team Meeting. Credit: Gareth Turner

At SIGNAL we have one big team meeting per month and we like to make it a shared lunch as well. It gives us an opportunity to catch up properly with each other before the real business of the meeting begins. Here we are in the the Real Learning meeting room, SiGNAL @The Shed enjoying a a team favourite - the Tesco Meal Deal Buffet! Keeping it real ??

Thanks to our SiGNAL neighbour Dave Nyss, FRSA for the hire of the room

Bordon Soapbox Derby just weeks away:

Here are a few SiGNALites back in 2019 laying out hay bales out for the Farnham Soapbox Derby at early o'clock! We competed in the 2019 Farnham Soapbox with a cart put together in the old SIGNAL Workshop. After a really fantastic day we all agreed that it would be amazing to bring the event to Bordon. Four years later thanks to SiGNAL members Gary Newell and Barry Lee Parker this is finally happening! On July 23rd, between 5,000 and 10,000 people are expected to gather on Chalet Hill for this madcap Red Bull style entertainment. Cart registration is now open and there are great sponsorship opportunities for local businesses too. Check it all out on their dedicated website

Time to review our mission?

Five years ago, the SiGNAL team set out on a considerable task: to make Bordon the best place in the UK to own and run a small business.

The question we asked our 42 tenants last month was:

How do you think we are doing?

Options were:

a/ You’ve hardly started

b/ you’re on the right track

c/ you’re nearly there

d/ you’ve done it

50 % of SIGNAL tenants felt that we were either nearly there or had already completed the mission!

The remaining 50% said we were at least on the right track?

I think we can safely conclude that we are about half way there.

From a standing start we think that is an incredible result and the team are very proud to have been able to deliver on such an aspirational concept.

Our goal over the coming 5 years is for 100% of tenants to say we are nearly there or we have done it. ??

Available Space

Stop Press: We have one office becoming available from June 1st

A medium sized office (155 square feet) in what we call ‘The Big House’ at SiGNAL is available from June 1st.?It’s a sunny room with high ceilings and original sash windows looking out over the front drive into plenty of beautiful green trees.

These offices at SIGNAL rarely come up so if you would like to be considered as our next Big House resident do send an email quickly to [email protected] or call the team on 01420 556335?

Giving back

Every couple of weeks Gareth and Claire spend a morning volunteering at The Community Pantry in Bordon (next to Cafe1759) and Emma volunteers with Farnham Park Volunteers - it does feel really good to get a change of scene and meet new people! The Community Pantry is an innovative local community project that provides affordable groceries to its members. You can read all about the pantry project in our blog

And finally here's that feelgood birthday video again!

Have a great month - we'll be back with more behind the scenes snapshots at the end of June
