Delivering to these stadiums was one of the most crucial aspects of fulfilling the logistics mandate for GWC. The team managed the delivery of 1.8 million pieces of equipment, 117,900 pieces of furniture, 34,700 office supply items, and 20,000 traffic control equipment, which ensured that all of the 64 matches were played on schedule.

Handling more than 30,000 pieces of equipment that included cameras, tripods, and lighting, the team delivered everything to and from the 8 stadiums, the International Broadcast Center & Main Media Center, 32 team base camps, 2 airports, 2 seaports,? and numerous other sites.

The readiness and availability of food and beverages at all the tournament sites is without doubt a huge responsibility. Team GWC handled more than 15 million cans of beverages during the entirety of the tournament, well supported by a world-class cold chain in place including on-site cold storage capabilities, temperature-controlled transportation vehicles, and certified food handlers. In addition to this, GWC coordinated with key stakeholders, commercial affiliates, and hospitality services providers for the safe and secure movement of a variety of F&B items with the entire focus on delivering them under the right conditions.

Days before the final whistle was blown and the whole world applauded at the sight of Argentina being crowned the new World Champions, the reverse logistics stage of the tournament was underway for GWC. A majority of the items that arrived in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup?? need to be returned home safely, which is where the reverse logistics part of our operation steps in. It will continue to be a work in progress long after the trophy has been lifted, as GWC closely works with several stakeholders to carefully demobilise every item and ship it securely back to its next destination.

Glory, Delivered

Over the course of the tournament, 200 truck drivers have covered 1,9000,000 km of distribution journeys, a dedicated team of 1,200 venue operations staff has worked for over 288,000 hours and collectively we have served 400 key sites. These logistics wins that we have underscored are not merely numbers but strong indicators of the bigger picture that Qatar 2022?? is a result of detailed planning and years of preparation.

Delivering the logistics mandate for the greatest showpiece event on the planet is not a distant dream anymore – it’s done!
