Fielder XT Series Guidewire Introduction | ASAHI (Part 2)
Interventional guidewires play a decisive role in the field of vascular intervention. A guidewire with good performance is one of the key factors for the success of interventional surgery. Interventional guidewires play a "bridge" role in interventional surgery. This issue will focus on the production of guidewires. A brief introduction to Fielder XT, a vascular interventional guidewire produced by Asahi Eida, a leading enterprise.
I. Introduction to Fielder XT guidewire
Fielder XT series guidewires also belong to the Sion Tecc guidewire category. They contain the general name of ACT ONE's new ASAHI guidewire design. The tip of the core wire is about 10 microns thick. A small part (ACT ONE) is added to the tip, which is the unique composite dual-core structure design of the guidewire. The new concept increases the infinite possibilities of guidewire control, and you can follow your heart wherever you want.
The features of Sion Tecc guidewire are as follows:
1) Excellent head-end durability;
2) Balance the softness and controllability of the head end;
3) Jump-free torque transmission;

II. Detailed explanation of Fielder XT series guidewire products
ASAHI has launched a series of Sion Tecc guidewire products. Today we will mainly introduce the features of the Fielder XT series guidewires - Fielder XT-A and Fielder XT-R. The basic information of these two guidewires is shown in the following table:
2.1 Fielder?XT-A
1. Structural composition
1) 0.014'' PTCA guidewire, 0.010" tapered tip (2 cm), (tapered part 3 cm), (Sion Tecc core structure) - stainless steel core wire + composite core (ACT ONE round wire spring structure, twisted wire structure);
2) 16cm coiled spring structure;
3) Head weight: 1.0g;
4) Development area length: 16cm;
5) 190cm and 300cm working length optional, straight head; green push rod appearance - PTFE coating;
6) 17cm polymer sheath;
7) 17cm long hydrophilic coating area;
The polymer fills the irregularities of the coil, reducing contact resistance. The surface lubricity is enhanced by applying a hydrophilic coating to the polymer.
The small tip shape provides better tracking performance for potential loose tissue and collateral vessels;
2. Performance characteristics
A soft polymer sheath guidewire with a flexible tapered tip, which has a higher tip load than the Fielder XT-R, is designed to facilitate access to chronic occlusive lesions (CTO); it has a small bending radius (<1mm), which allows for better tracking of loose tissues; for occlusive lesions without stumps, parallel guidewire techniques such as AWE and RWE are usually preferred. Even in more complex CTO cases, using a Field XT-A (or Fighter, Bandit…) short-tipped guidewire is a good option and sometimes successful. It can be used as a knuckle line (when the vascular route is unknown, if the artery is calcified, and the CTO segment is longer), it is safe to operate and has a low chance of perforation.

3. Tips for use
In many cases, this guidewire is one of the preferred guidewires in AWE and RWE techniques; it has good gliding properties and drilling properties when the guidewire is rotated quickly. For gliding and drilling techniques, the best advantage is a slight constant thrust and rotation. If the guidewire steering and tactile feedback are not appropriate, starting from scratch can sometimes help choose another path. Even with polymer cannulas and tapered tips, operators can easily feel insufficient penetration. Then in similar anatomical structures, upgrading to a stronger polymer sheathed guidewire is appropriate;
Compared to the Fielder XT-R, the Fielder XT-A is less flexible but has more push gearing. XT-A’s main focus is on passing performance, while XT-R’s focus is on trackability in narrow channels;
Durable tip, which is easily pre-shaped due to the polymer sheath; there is also a small possibility of guidewire breakage;
Even with low tip loading, small perforations (V-shaped perforations) can occur in the distal coronary arteries. Usually managed conservatively, but follow-up with echocardiography is required.
2.2 Fielder XT-R
1.? Structural composition
1) 0.014'' PTCA guidewire, 0.010" tapered tip (2 cm), (tapered part 3 cm), (Sion Tecc core structure) - stainless steel core wire + composite core (ACT ONE round wire spring structure, twisted wire structure);
2) 16cm coiled spring structure;
3) Head weight: 0.8g;
4) Development area length: 16cm;
5) 190cm and 300cm working length optional, straight head; green push rod appearance - PTFE coating;
6) 17cm high molecular polymer sheath;
7) 17cm long hydrophilic coating area;
The polymer fills the irregularities of the coil, reducing contact resistance. Enhance surface lubricity by applying a hydrophilic coating to the polymer.
The small tip shape provides better tracking performance for potential loose tissue and collateral vessels;
2. Performance characteristics
The guidewire has a flexible conical soft tip and a highly lubricating polymer-covered guidewire surface, which can control narrow channel tracking performance; commonly used for subtotal occlusion (99%) and long diffuse lesions, microchannels; a major guidewire for ventricular septal collateral crossing lesions, with a small bending radius (<1mm), thus having better tracking performance for controlling loose tissue.
3. Usage Tips
This guidewire is the first choice when simple CTO (J-CT0 0) lesions are seen or suspected to be microchannels; it has excellent gliding and drilling capabilities when the guidewire is rotated quickly, and in the diaphragm surfing technique, light pressure and slow rotational back and forth movements are required to find the connecting channel;
Durable tip, which is easily pre-shaped due to the polymer sheath; there is also a small possibility of guidewire breakage;
Even with low tip loading, small perforations (V-shaped perforations) can occur in the distal coronary arteries. Usually managed conservatively, but follow-up with echocardiography is required.
III. Conclusion
Interventional guidewires are important tools for interventional doctors during surgery. The selection and correct operation of the guidewires largely determine whether the surgery can be successful.?
