A fiction book, with meaning in real-life
Finished reading ‘The Last Dance’ last week. It is neither a business book, not is it a management/self-help book. But without any hesitation, I believe it deserves a recommendation to my LinkedIn colleagues (apart from many accolades).
I am not into book reviews and summaries. So, I will stick to the reason why this book holds a prime spot on my e-bookshelf (Painfully moved from paper to kindle for travel convenience. Change managed effectively??).
The book portrays the journey of the lady protagonist – Ayla, which is enabled by her Guru. It is a journey of peaks and valleys. There are times in the book when the Guru is left with nothing but his purpose for his student. Through toughness and togetherness, he works with Ayla to help her achieve her dreams.
There is a point in the book where I was secretly wishing that the lady protagonist succeeds at her dream. Not because of who she is, but because of whom she represents. In her portrayal, she represents the whole of humanity - People who face obstacles of different kinds in their life and who are willing to overcome those obstacles to succeed.
Read the book, from the eyes of a leader, coach, mentor, and teacher to people around you. When you are done reading the book, consider the question, ‘How would our lives be, if we worked with the passion of the guru in the book to make our team members, trainees, new joinees, and colleagues successful?’
I will stop here and let the book speak for itself when you read it. Happy reading!
Acknowledgment: Thank you D for bringing this book into my life.
