Brands Boost Social Togetherness
Brands are in a key position to foster social togetherness, according to a new study entitled 'The Togetherness Economy', produced by Harvard professor Robert J. Waldinger and futurologist Martin Raymond. The report found that 61% of respondents feel that brands have an important role to play when it comes to fostering togetherness in society.
That sentiment has a direct connection to the bottom line, with 70% of US respondents claiming that they would be more likely to buy a product if its brand promoted togetherness.
#ProTips for communicators to actively foster social togetherness:
- Show the values that people from different backgrounds share.
- Make sure that brand messaging stays consistent across all audiences.
What Marketers Can Learn from America’s Most Loved Brands
The top 10 most loved brands in the US, according to Talkwalker’s third annual Brand Love Report created with Hootsuite in order are Jimmy Choo, Downy, Dolce & Gabbana, Estée Lauder, Oral-B, Mercedes-Benz, Kit Kat, Nespresso, Adidas, and HelloFresh.
The top 10 list was calculated from an analysis of more than 1,500 global brands based on scores in three categories — passion, trust, and customer satisfaction. It was found that the top-ranking brands were almost all:
- Offering value-driven products that deliver solid social or environmental benefits, often developed via crowdsourced customer feedback.
- Providing digital experiences that evoke emotions and deliver convenience.
- Delighting customers by creating personalized products and experiences.
- Being outspoken about diversity, equity, and inclusion and implementing DE&I workplace initiatives.
#FunFact: 72% of US consumers and 83% of Millennials believe it's more important than ever to buy from brands that share their values.

Higher Optimism is Linked with Longer Life
Higher levels of optimism were associated with longer lifespan and living beyond age 90 in women across racial and ethnic groups in a study led by researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Of the participants, the 25% who were the most optimistic were likely to have a 5.4% longer lifespan and a 10% greater likelihood of living beyond 90 years than the 25% who were the least optimistic.
