A FEW THINGS I LEARNT THROUGH MY DAILY 5KM RUN

A FEW THINGS I LEARNT THROUGH MY DAILY 5KM RUN

- Sometimes we try so hard to reach our destination, we tend not to enjoy the journey (The process is an important at the result)

- The human mind is 2 million years old and it is built for survival. That's why it keeps telling us to stop when the run gets too tough. This is the the ultimate battle during the run. Give in to your instinct or recondition your thinking for success.

- Your body is capable of amazing things. When I first started running, the first 500 meters was the most difficult part. However, with time, my body adjusted to the most arduous conditions and is capable of pushing for more. Running reminds you that in your weakest moments, you are strong.

- Surround yourself with people who are on the same journey as yourself. Sometimes our environment is stronger than our 'will'. It is important to find a set of people who have similar interests so that they can help you achieve your highest priorities while they seek out theirs.

- Suffering is important if you are to seek pleasure. If running 5KM was easy, everyone would be doing it. The sense of achievement, the sense of fulfillment comes from the fact that it is grueling, arduous and difficult to complete your task.

- Its not about being better than everyone else, as much is to be the best you can be. Our main competition is often distorted by thinking we need to win a race but in fact, the real race is to become the best versions of ourselves.

- Keep pace with the best if you want to be the best. If you are determined to win in life, make sure you surround yourself with people who are better than you. Their standards will become your standards.

- Find yourself. As you go through your motions, switching gears, setting your body into auto pilot; you will find your Nirvana. Your mind frees itself and you are open to deep thought. You listen to the gentle rhythm of your heart and feel your breathing form predictable patterns. I use this time to reflect upon my day, form strategies for the next and find peace & gratitude.

- Stay Focused. When you are trying to achieve a target, you block out the noise, the chatter and skepticism and focus on one thing. When running, you are not side tracked or influenced by others who could potentially break your rhythm. Its just you! You are the master of your destiny.
