Few Notes To Self To Be Relevant and Happy In 2024:

Why is it so important to Be Relevant?

An organization is likely to increase its chances of growth if it can stay relevant. Business operation is always a continuous and dependant process with highs and lows, which requires flexibility and interest to adapt to new trends and be a Customer Centric Organization. A business has to be more relevant to the needs of the market and customers and act proactive than reactive. This has downstream impact to the Employees i.e., the actual workforce. In other words I would like to call it the Knowledge Capital which is the Human Minds. To stay up-to-date to the market trends and steer the Organization with Sheer Brilliance, the Employees need to equip themselves to stay relevant and Increase their chances of professional growth, by contributing to the growth of the organization and thereby achieving both the objective of the Organization as well as the Individual goals. Having said that, an individual should also ensure that their basic needs and personal goals are also met. Personally, I always keep a check on Maslow’s Theory and evaluate where I stand and what I need to do to achieve them. (Physiological Needs, Safety Needs, Emotional Needs, Self-Esteem and Self Actualization). And, Why is it so important to be Happy In 2024 in a Professional Environment? Nothing is important if you are not happy with what you are doing. Do things which make you happy and Live to the Fullest.

1) Spend More Time in Reading: One of the very traditional methods but a forgotten hack is “Reading”. Keep reading both the world’s best practices as well as the latest technological advancements that’s happening and stay up to date on the trend. Fall in love with books and have an inseparable relationship.

2) Learn, Unlearn & Relearn:

In the aim to stay relevant to the trend, we have to learn new skills and technologies. However, it is very critical that we have to also learn to “Unlearn” the bad practices and “Relearn” the already established or well known practices. Be Technically advanced and equip yourselves to latest technologies and be technically strong. Your excellent singing skill will not help where you have to speak.?

3) Enhance your Communication:

In the Global professional environment, we may meet and work with people from cross-cultural backgrounds. This is an opportunity to hone your communication and learn to express your thoughts professionally. It's not about what you communicate but how you communicate. You don’t need flamboyant slang and style in your language. It's fancy but it is more important that you communicate clearly. So, make sure you develop your communication and enhance the clarity of your pitch. Be Clear and Concise.?

4) Respect your Colleague: Never create an attitude that you know everything. Organizational growth is a group activity and it's always about growing together. There will be certain People (I call them The Sakuni’s - An Evil character from the Epic Mahabharata) who can pollute you with wrong preachings and input negative thoughts. This will make individuals act indifferent to other colleagues and concentrate only on self growth. Never listen to them and make sure that you respect every colleague and show interest in your peer’s growth as well and try to grow together.?

5) Create a Positive Working Environment:

Don’t wait for others to foster a positive working environment around you. Create your own environment. Be the change that you want to see around. Personally, I have always created a concept called “Powerful Feedback Environment” since my college days and following the same even in my professional network. I ensure that people are encouraged even for the simplest of good acts. A Simple act of caring creates endless ripple. Always take an extra effort to bring a smile on others. However, it is equally important to call a spade a spade. Don’t do false appreciations and be honest to yourself.
