- Disclaimer: This author is not supportive of the aforesaid incident. Here, he is merely trying equate the unfortunate happening with prevailing socioeconomic injustice in the country with a view to highlight some vital facts, so that lawmakers / judiciary may effectively play their part.
- Introduction: There are many reasons and if asked to pin-point a couple of them, then this humble soul will narrow it down to prevailing economic & political system. The following modest pieces carry some indications in light of Quran & Sunnah and which can resolve the aforesaid issues to a large extent.
- A Tale of Two Economies; Part - I: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/tale-two-economies-societies-part-i-muhammad-rizwan-ul-haque/
- A Tale of Two Economies; Part – II: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/tale-two-economies-societies-part-ii-muhammad-rizwan-ul-haque/
- Election or Selection; Re. Democracy and a New Selection System: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/election-selection-re-democracy-new-system-muhammad-rizwan-ul-haque/
- Human Factor: If questioned to name the primary element, which is adversely contributing towards the current system, then a simple answer will be; politicians & bureaucrats. Former is the lawmaker, but an act of parliament is made and / or amended on recommendation of bureaucrats.
- A Lesson Forgotten: A mere general reading of the news may create a feeling that the matter of abscounding is related to upbringing of children and it may be due to the fact that our society is still underdeveloped. But, unfortunately in the battle to survive the lesson of morality & ethics is either not taught or is forgotten to survive and to meet the ends. This author disagree that majority of parents teach the lesson of dishonesty to their children.
- Immorality and Dishonesty: As far as dishonesty is concerned, this humble soul remains firm on the stance that aforementioned two main actors (i.e. politician & bureaucrats) must become cognizant of ground realities, as otherwise the social fabric will further get tainted with a passage of time. It is a bitter fact that the masses are being compelled into malpractices, because otherwise it's not possible for them to remain afloat (economically).
- Bitter Facts: For example; the minimum official salary is Rs.14K; US$1=PKR110, whereas, the unorganized sector maybe paying even less. In view of the above, it is not possible that a person can afford e.g. house rent, kitchen expenses, school fees, transport and utilities bills (to list a few necessities) in aforementioned sum, if he has wife and two kids to support. The majority is pulling through this economic abnormality due to a few inherent advantages in our country, which are listed here under; joint family system, debt-free family houses, presence of charitable organizations providing food and other necessities etc.
- A Challenge: Despite the above factors, it is the frustration amongst the healthy, agile and ambitious youth which cannot be curtailed. It's because of this reason that the younger generation just want to runaway from here to explore their ability at places which offer level-playing field. They risk their lives and professional careers, while parents have to beg & borrow to arrange them to cross the border. But when they reach a foreign land they labor very hard & work honestly. They remain responsible members to their families and regularly send money back home. This is the reason that our foreign remittance has crossed $11.0bn mark in 7-months during the current fiscal year.
- Flawed Systems: It’s due to prevailing lopsided systems (economic & political) that socioeconomic justice cannot be made available to the masses and this scenario is ruining the future of our youth. We must always thank Allah SWT that HE has blessed us with abundance of resources and fortunately we didn't face these sort of financial hardships to survive.
- Problems are for Educated as Well: It is a fact that even educated class are unable to find decent jobs. If one doesn't have connections in the market place then one will remain jobless for quite some time (indeed, we have Imaan / faith that Allah SWT is Razzaq / provider).
- An Example: Last week, this author interviewed a fresh Chartered Accountant, who was available for Rs.75K and there are plenty of them competing for these lowly paid jobs. Six months ago an equivalent person was hired for even less. This is the worth of educated class in our country.
- Doctors & Engineers: The situation is even worse for doctors and engineers. We should not blame them if they look for greener pastures (Gulf and / or the West). Of course some try taking short cuts, but the majority is innocent and willing work in congenial environment. It is family responsibilities and packets full of energy, which frustrates them. There is a similar challenging story hidden behind every individual and our youth are not only being exploited here, but also in the Middle East.
May Allah SWT help & guide us to play a part in reviving the conditions for our fellow countrymen (Aameen).
