Happy Lunar New Year!

The Lunar New Year is one of ?my favourite festivals. And this year’s special. It's the year of the Dragon, more specifically - year of the Wood Dragon. A year of unlimited potential, which can be bettered if harnessed with the dragon’s quality of compassion.

Bear with me, there’s a fintech aspect to the festival as well.

The traditional gift of new bank notes in a red-packet (laisee in Cantonese) has gone digital for a few years now. This year HSBC and their advertising agencies are providing an unique augmented reality experience gift giving.

If any of us are still thinking of fintech as obscure code development, it’s time to close that door.

Let’s instead make the most of the year of unlimited potential.

Continuing the year’s theme: The Fintech (R)Evolution.

At FintechWomen’s Winter planning, we quickly agreed that fintech today has become so pervasive that it doesn’t fit in a box anymore. The industry, therefore, needs the combination of hard and soft skills to continue revolutionizing how money moves (e-laisee, as example).

Winter and Spring events

There is definitely more to come from our planning. To kick off the year though, mark your calendars for a few events:

• Feb 16th, we will be at the kickoff of the University & Corporate Blockchain Series with Suffolk University and Boston Blockchain. ?Register here
• In March, we’re celebrating Women’s History Months with friends from IBM. Webinar date tbd.
• On April 25th and 26th, we partner with the New England AFP again to present two thought-leadership sessions at their Annual Conference:Gen AI in Financial Services, April 25th at 11:30The Convergence of AI and Blockchain, April 26th at 10:30
