Leben statt überleben: Gib dir selbst die Erlaubnis, Verbundenheit zu erfahren und tauch ein in die Sch?nheit der Verwandlung.
-Is today the celebration of love? asks Zebra. -It's a rhetorical question, of course, he adds with a sly smile.
-In fact. Once again, I figured it had shrunk to gift exchanges for some people, Okapi says, tilting its head. It has put on a red pointed cap, and the white pom-pom on the top reinforces the movement.
-But this is a good opportunity to realize what is important! That not everything is product! Because in the utilizability logic even living beings become freely available convenience products. Then everything is to be acquired.
-You can see it in the use of people in wars as cannon fodder, Okapi adds. -Or in human trafficking. In this logic, it is also perfectly okay to abuse all kinds of animals as ingredients for "traditional" or especially "exotic" feasts. Such a conception of festivity has an extremely violent and ruthless undertone. You need only walk past, one example of many, fresh fish sales.
-It is not at all surprising to hear that it is particularly the holidays that are often the time for nasty fights. This was explained to me only recently by a coach, Zebra says with a serious face. -People are no longer used to spending time together. And it often happens that gifts are given as an expression of loving feelings. And are understood by the recipient as a substitute for real affection.
-But there are more and more people who withdraw. Who drop out of this X-Mas commercial project, Okapi interjects. -Giving each other valuable gifts of time and attention. Really contemplating what brings joy, what makes time worthwhile.
-And when you have time and peace, you can also allow yourself the luxury of introspection. Sounds wise, doesn't it, Zebra muses. -Here I could imagine a quiet gong sounding. As an invitation to ask oneself: What influence do values and feelings have on behavior? And what effect do they have if you live them accordingly?
-This is a challenge. It's worth it, I think. It takes openness, to genuine sharing of thoughts and feelings, with those you care about.
-Or to be alone, to practice empathy, says Zebra. -This creates an inner calm and awareness. Many have decided to allow themselves a truly quiet time of retreat at the end of the year. Just like some animals that hibernate. Gathering their energies. And some that give really beautiful gifts, for example. That they give someone the gift of time.
Okapi nods in agreement. -There's no need for hype at all. On the contrary, maybe just a retreat to really reflect on what's important. Listen to yourself and notice what's going on inside.
-So be it. And so it is, answers Zebra with a solemn expression.
