关于我们
At Arbor, we’re sustainably powering the present while erasing emissions of the past. Our innovative system transforms organic waste into clean, reliable electricity while capturing carbon dioxide at scale. Founded by space tech veterans who pivoted from building technology to explore new planets to protecting our own, Arbor leverages cutting-edge aerospace technology to tackle climate change. Our mission is to bring gigawatts of clean, dependable baseload power online while removing gigatons of legacy carbon emissions. Earth is the most important spaceship we’ll ever have, and we’re dedicated to restoring its balance. Drawing on our team’s deep aerospace expertise, we’ve created a power system that meets today’s demands while repairing yesterday’s damage. Arbor’s engine, fueled by organic waste, improves on Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) using advancements in oxy-combustion, supercritical turbomachinery, and additive manufacturing. The system turns waste—like overgrown brush, crop residues, and food waste—into clean power, reducing wildfire risks and landfill emissions. The captured CO2 is permanently stored deep underground, where it mineralizes into rock, ensuring it never returns to the atmosphere. At Arbor, we envision a future where human progress and environmental stewardship work in harmony to power our world and bring the planet into balance. We’re proudly backed by climate-focused investors including Gigascale Capital, Voyager Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, and Cantos Ventures.

Yesterday at the BloombergNEF Forum in Los Angeles, I had the pleasure of chatting with BNEF’s Mark Daly and Ryan Cook of Arc about how we’re?tackling climate challenges with an aerospace mindset. Drawing from our time at SpaceX, Ryan and I reflected on?a central theme of what drives us: working on really hard problems with brilliant people to drive outsized impact. That same ethos drives both of us to build sustainable businesses with a much bigger mission in mind. At Arbor Energy, we’re focusing on producing carbon-negative power—unlocking an energy-abundant future while actively restoring the planet. Huge thanks to Lauren Faber O’Connor from Lowercarbon Capital, our panel moderator Mark Daly from BNEF, and everyone who joined us to learn, support, and share ideas. It’s clear that building a truly sustainable future will require all of us to step up—collaborating, pioneering new models, and being willing to share what we learn along the way.

The surging demand for data centers, fueled by advancements in AI, comes with an enormous energy footprint. But what if we didn’t have to compromise the planet to power the future? At Arbor, we’re developing a solution that provides both clean, always-on electricity and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) through carbon-negative power generation. Morgan Stanley’s recent report highlights how the data center boom could drive demand for CDR. But we believe there’s a better way forward—one where we don’t need to create more emissions just to incentivize removing them. By powering data centers with carbon-negative electricity, Arbor could pave a new path where we don’t have to choose between progress and sustainability. #cleanpower #datacenters #CDR #carbonremoval

Meet Brad Boyer, Principal Engineer at Arbor! After nearly two decades working on gas turbines at GE Power, Brad’s deep commitment to sustainability led him to Arbor, where he saw the potential to build something truly groundbreaking: a way to produce clean, carbon-negative power. Brad now uses his expertise in power generation and engineering project management to oversee the development of multiple complex projects across teams. He plays a key role in bringing Arbor’s innovation to life—a new kind of power plant that transforms organic waste into baseload power while capturing CO2 for permanent storage. This fall is especially momentous for Brad, as he serves as the Program Manager for Arbor’s 1-megawatt pilot, ATLAS, which is set to begin testing our full stack of technology. What excites Brad most is the innovation behind Arbor’s approach. While the technologies aren’t entirely new, the way Arbor integrates and executes them is revolutionary for how we fight climate change and generate power. As Brad puts it, “I imagine it’s what the Wright brothers must have felt—knowing flight was possible, but needing to put in the work to make it a reality. We have the technology, and now it’s about refining, testing, and proving that what works on paper can truly change the world.”

The Arbor team is making big strides toward achieving carbon-negative power! We are on track to achieve first fire on our 1 MW pilot, ATLAS, by the end of the year. Our power skid is being welded and painted, and will soon arrive at our office for final assembly before heading to our test site in San Bernardino. It's incredible to see our rendering coming to life! In Phase I of our campaign, ATLAS will serve as a test bed for Arbor's sCO2 turbomachinery (all developed in-house). Over the course of 2025, it will prove the technology's potential to convert organic waste into clean electricity and permanent carbon removal. ATLAS will help us fine-tune our design with over 1,000 hours of operation to test the system under various real-world conditions using a variety of feedstocks (from forest waste to agricultural residues).

At #ClimateWeekNYC, our team found itself at the heart of a conversation about bridging the gap between venture capital and project finance for first-of-a-kind (FOAK) technologies. Scaling transformative climate solutions will take more than just innovation in technology; it calls for creativity, risk-taking, and fresh thinking from every part of the ecosystem. At Arbor, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and to bring carbon-negative power to commercial scale, we need others—investors, financiers, and partners—to push theirs. As Vanessa Z Chan, Chief Commercialization Officer at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), put it, “What we are now is in the Squid Games where everyone wants to go eighth or ninth, but pointing to everyone else to go first.” But we believe this isn’t about standing back. It’s about coming together, not in a game of survival, but in a shared mission—more like the Avengers. Each hero steps forward not because they are forced to, but because they believe in the value they bring to the team. Success will come when we stop hesitating and start innovating—daring to break the mold and build something truly transformative for our planet. Huge shoutout to the incredible voices that helped drive these important conversations, including Andrew Yi and James Lindsay and the Builders Vision team, Dana Gibber and the Flowcarbon team, and Dimitry Gershenson and the Enduring Planet team, and to our own team of Arbor Avengers including Microsoft, Frontier, Isometric, Voyager Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Gigascale Capital, and so many others. Let’s keep bravely moving forward. #climatetech #carbonremoval #cleanenergy #climateaction
