As 19th August approached, the people of the Fentons Family were brimming with so much of excitement that could only mean one thing - the much-anticipated Fentons Premier League 2023 was about to unfold. Employees and cricket enthusiasts alike gathered at the NCC grounds, filled with excitement for a day of intense competition, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

As the clock struck 8 AM the inauguration ceremony began with the lighting of the oil lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Mohan Pandithage, Chairman of the?Hayleys Group, and Mr. Hasith Prematillake, the Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons.

Ms Lalani Weerararchi, General Manager of Human Resources of Fentons Limited,?who played a pivotal role in organizing this spectacular event graced the occasion with a welcoming speech, inspiring and encouraging all in attendance.?

With the national flag fluttering in the breeze accompanied by the national anthem sung by everyone in the crowd, the event took to stage with Mr. Dinidu from HR hosting the event.

The grounds echoed with the thwack of leather against willow, signaling the start of the first round of matches. The teams, armed with determination and a fierce competitive spirit, battled it out on the pitch amidst the papare music. The cheers from the crowd were infectious, and even those less versed in cricket found themselves caught up in the excitement. From daring sixes to strategic bowling, every moment was indeed a nail-biting spectacle.

After a good round of lunch, at around 2 PM, the grounds came alive once again for the second round of matches. The intensity of the games only grew, as the teams fought tooth and nail for a spot in the finals. There were 36 Teams comprising 34 Male Teams and 2 Female Teams, who played head-on.

Every run scored, and every wicket taken was celebrated, showing the sportsmanship and passion that the Fentons Spirit stands for.

The 5:30 PM announcement of the Final Match sent a thrill through the crowd and the anticipation was at its peak as the final two male and female teams stood face to face for the ultimate encounter which decided the most anticipated Winner and Runner-Up of the FPL. These were the two teams who displayed remarkable skill and teamwork throughout the match. As supporters cheered their favourite teams who made it to the final match, the final wicket fell and the winner and the runner-up teams were decided. ?

After the final whistle, the Post-Match Presentation was a moment of recognition as the Winners and Runner up teams were announced on the stage amidst confetti showers whilst the match officials, organizers, and especially the sponsors were acknowledged later on, for making the event a roaring success.

But the day was not over…

The atmosphere changed from the competitive cricket soar to a vibrant night of fun and fellowship with the music of the Pyramids and the songs sung by in-house singing stars of Fentons. Everyone was dancing and singing along, lost in the joy of the moment.

The FPL was a reminder that beyond the corporate walls, there lies a community fueled by passion and fellowship.
