women , girls , ladies names we use to describe a human with a vagina and a womb. the most common condition we fight is urinary tract infection and if you are lucky you escape the complications that come from the disease, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, sepsis, and many others depending on your arrangement. but what of those who are unlucky?

My work in wajir county has made me realize that most women in the rural areas are not lucky , am not blaming religion , but most Muslims in the rural region we all know they use water after defecation but do they do it in the right manner ?

lack of knowledge on how to clean the pubic and anal region is a challenge , most are self taught , children are not enrolled in schools because the parents and guardians do not see a future past education. These children's futures are already determined to be someone's wife in the future and bear children for the family.

Poor hygiene, in these region even getting water to drink is a problem , cleanliness in the family becomes a challenge and most even end up with severe dehydration. The women in arid and some semi arid regions tend to struggle when it comes to keeping the family fed well hydrated and in good health.

Tradition, due to the lack of knowledge , most people in the community tend to use traditional methods to cure diseases, these unorthodox methods tend to make conditions worse. most people are unwilling to get medical help due to their beliefs thus interpreting miscarriages' or infertilities as witchcraft.

Finances, for those willing to seek medical advice, finances is an issue. they do not work thus no income, most government hospitals do not have drugs so treatment becomes an issue.

The most common condition in wajir right now is recurrent / chronic untreated urinary tract infections with the complications.

It saddens my heart when qualified medical professionals take the advantage of such cases and instead of helping the community they see it as a business opportunity.

That is why HUNTERS RUN FOUNDATION INC we are going to schools, villages to teach and help such women not to be seen as cursed in their community , knowledge is power and this will help reduce the mortality rate and also diagnose conditions early even before they get worse.
