Female Davos 2023

Female Davos 2023

This was my 4th WEF Davos experience and what stood out strongly for me this time were the women! ??????

I noticed a strong presence of women in all panels, events, gatherings. And not just attendance but direct involvement - women were speakers, moderators, and organizers. The female energy was palpable. Strong! Radiant! It felt, the time has come!

The Female Quotient,?Shelley Zalis?place that she launched 8 years ago when the WEF has announced that only 20% of attendees were women, was one of the most vibrant spaces on all fo the Promenade. I very much enjoyed moderating a panel there (more on that in a separate thread, here focus on women).???

??One of the receptions I enjoyed the most was the Bank Of America reception at the?#GoalsHouse, where I had the pleasure to meet and chat with Lubna Olayan, Chairwoman of the Saudi British Bank, and first Saudi woman to head a bank.?Tola St. Matthew-Daniel?thank you for the invitation ??

??Another favorite event last week was the Women World Leaders Dinner and reception organized by Valérie Beaulieu Margery Kraus Daniella Foster?Shamina Singh?where besides meeting a lot of amazing women, I also had a chance to reconnect with my old friend?Deemah AlYahya?whom I haven’t seen since our last dinner pre-pandemic in Riyadh.

??Another female co-organizer of a beautiful event, a seated dinner, was?Janna Salokangas?who together with Risto Kuulasmaa, and of course a team, have put yet another great Finnish Flow dinner where I had the pleasure to sit next to Nicole Stott, an astronaut, who showed me pictures of her space walk. It was quite surreal. She advocates for space tourism. I would love to see our planet earth from space one day. Let's see of this will be more affordable eventually… for now a quick flight up to space is about 500K, Nicole told me.

?? It was wonderful to see?Alyse Nelson??and?Manira Alva?from Vital voices where I have a been a global ambassador for many years now. Alyse is the CEO and she announced an impact fund in Davos, which Diane Von Furstenberg supports.?

?????? More amazing women, old and new friends, whom I met at my other favorite events last week, the official WEF Shabbat dinner, Swedish lunch and Swedish brunch, the House of Balance, and the House of Beautiful Business event and, my favorite place to be in Davos, the GoalsHouse:

Bettina Petzold?Sohaila Ouffata?Nicole Büttner?Sophia Swire?Jennifer Schenker?Tiffany Harnsongkram?Catherine Carlton?Dr. Mihaela Ulieru?Sabinije von Gaffke?Joanna Gordon?Hanna Aase?Katja Filippenko?Shamina Singh?Margery Kraus?Dr Anino Emuwa?Alice Bromage MBA BSc MCMI FRGS FRSA?Jennifer Wines, JD, CPWA??Isabelle Canu Tarja Stephens Peta Milan (She/Her)

In summary, it was an excellent week with lots of new meetings and conversations. On the very first day I met Julia Singh who said her objective was to have one deep conversation a day, I rephrased it slightly to “a meaningful conversation a day” and have followed her advice. The week was full of many meaningful conversations, of meeting new people (women and men) and interactions with a lot of old friends and acquaintances.?

Thank You, Davos, see you in 2024 ???
