FEMA Announces $3 Million in Funding to Help California Recover from Wildfires

This week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that it is providing $3 million in funding to help communities in California recover from recent wildfires. The funding will be used to help rebuild homes and businesses that were destroyed or damaged by the fires.

The US Fire Administration (USFA) also released a new report on the state of fire safety in the United States. The report found that there were over 350,000 fires in the United States in 2022, and that these fires caused over $20 billion in damage.

The agencies urged all Americans to take steps to protect themselves from fire. Here are some tips:

  • Have a fire escape plan in place and practice it regularly.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher in your home and know how to use it.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep flammable materials away from heat sources.
  • Have your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors tested regularly.

By following these tips, you can help keep yourself and your family safe from fire.
